I quit WoW, and havent played games in over a month.  Getting that itch... is this game worth buying?

If you really liked the PvE game that WoW had to offer, you'll probably like Rift.

If you really want a good PvP game, probably best to wait. There are less PvP options in Rift than in WoW.

The thing that put it a bit above WoW is the Soul system. There are four classes (Warrior, Cleric, Rogue, Mage) with I want to say 8 callings each, and once you hit 13 or so, you can switch around the callings once you earn them. Earning them is as simple as getting the quest in your major city and doing a rift.

Rifts are pretty much glorified and more polished versions of public quests. Like public quests, they also get old after a while.

    That's it in a nutshell.

    tldr:

PvE is much like WoW's, although apparently really easy, moreso than WoW's later raids.

PvP isn't and never will be the focus of Rift. Don't buy the game primarily for PvP.

EDIT: For some reason I read your post as if you had never played Rift. Mah bad!

.. But in a good way.

I would say go one of the AAA games that went F2P for a while. there are some games on the horizon that look much more promising than Rift.

Rift aint a  bad game but i would recomend you to wait even more, eq2/lotro are pretty solid games and you will get more longterm fun from either of them.

If you like questing then you'll like Rift.  There's a million of them (literally, I think lol).  PvP is ok, but before level 50 you'll spend most of your time in PUG, which isn't too great.  I really like the endgame however.  PvP is pretty fun when you do pre-made vs pre-made, and the expert mode dungeons are cool, as it adds more bosses and stuff to do.

I believe they have a free weekend again this weekend if you want to try without buying.
