Comments
yeah...forgot to mention...i played Aion at launch and stopped because it was too grindy and lack of pve content and i tried AOC trial...was wondering how is leveling and endgame doin in both games.... i reached lvl 23 with demonologist and barbarian in conan and it was pretty interesting.... but since i have to pay for the game and subscription i wouldnt want to regret i chose the wrong 1...again...sry for not mentioning this in previous post
Neither, get Rift, its in a better state even now in its launch time than both of those have ever been.
I can't talk about AoC but Aion is still a good game, stable population. A LOT more content now then at launch, the grind is greatly reduced but there is still some grind there. PvP still fun and rewarding if you like Aion's style of open RvR. Not an easy game though, this is a big plus for me personally however
If you like WoW style more easy games (nothing wrong with that) with more arena based PvP then get Rift
Healing the world since 2005
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Don't. It's a poor game, lacks soul and will bore extremely quickly.
I'd say Aion, since AoC looks to be going nowhere slowly; hoever, if youw ant some FFA PvP with looting, wait for the new AoC servers, since that's what they'll be.
RIFT was a *crushing* disappointment; a shallow, loveless, generic MMO the likes of which hasn't been seen in a P2P format since, well, forever.
Eagerly awaiting: World of Darkness, ArcheAge.
i tried RIFT....didnt impress me.... they should have put better animations of skills....the combat there seems so dull to me....soul system is good and rifts but thats all... ill wait for few more days to see posts from ppl to decide which one to choose...AION or AOC...i play wow for now but i want change; concerning, comba,t graphics and different style from wow
If you're more into PvE content then the obvious choice would be Age of Conan. Once you get around level 40 if you dislike PvP you wont be happy in Aion. You especially wont like the end game...at all.
One of Conans flaws which isnt nearly as bad now as it used to be since they added more quick travel options, is the travel from quest hub to quest location. Its not really a game that you can jump into for an hour or two and really accomplish a lot.
Also the crafting is terrible and really isnt something id recommend even doing unless your crafting in a guild. It takes a communitive effort to make a good number of things and destroys your inventory. Not to mention, you cannot even begin to craft until level 40.
But back to PvE. The quests are written really well and theres a good amount of story telling in the game. Funcom gets bashed a lot by people of these forums for trivial things but they really took R.E. Howards work to heart and payed him a lot of respect when designing this game and it shows in the dialogue and settings of the game world. The artwork is phenomenal and a lot of the scenes you find yourself in look like theyve placed you directly into a Frazetta painting. With the new Dreamworld engine update it looks even better than ever and runs a lot better as well.
The combat Im sure you've seen or heard is completley unique as well. Theres a lot of active blocking in melee and combinations that no other MMO has, not to mention the gore (again going back to the way Howard described Conans world). It would really be a waste not to give the game a shot, especially if you've already tried Aion. I can sit here all day and write in this stupid font on a forum to you but it wont come anywhere close to showing you what the gameworld is like.
Another Rift fan boy
Rift is Wow dressed in a pretty bow. Why would I want to play something I've already played?
Aion for the pvp.
AoC for the pve.
Unless things have changed AION end game pvp is all about massive lag and zerg fests, the pvp leveling area is about people in teams running around ganking people and running from any sort of even chance encounters. The game was fun for a while but it got under my skin after a while.
yeah I agree, I played both games, recently i went back to conan and I'm loving, I just think the game is far more deep than aion
I don't know how cheap you can find Aion, but you can get AoC on gogamer.com for $6.90. That is a pretty good deal to get 30days for the price. I know it has the collectors edition for cheaper, but you don't get the expansion. The expansion you can level to 40 before having to go back to original content up to level 80.
I emjoyed AoC more than Aion. To each their own and if you can find Aion for the same price maybe next month you can try Aion for a month to see which you like better.
Have fun whatever you do!

Before I like AION, but now AOc because the game is already free to play... ahahaha
AoC > Aion, by far.
Writer / Musician / Game Designer
Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4
Waiting On: GW2, TSW, Archeage, The Rapture
Don't get Rift, Trion didn't try on any new concepts, just slightly innovated group questing. Played it and said it was the same old story where I'm not immediately immersed or amazed by anything, just gotta kill 10 mindless zombies, ultimately making me into a mindless zombie.
ao AOC it is then....i had trouble running it on high quality ... was playing on low and it it was lagging... i heard they improved engine and made all better... the game adjusts to ur computer capacity and i like that... and i see they have special offer for 8 pounds 32 days gameplay included
AoC is the choice hands down as far as I am concerned. The world way richer and the combat was fantatstic I loved playing my Dark Templar and assassin. Very visceral and fun combat and the world was rich and beautiful.
I have purchased and played both. AoC i have a maxxed ToS, if that tells you anything. Kept me long enough to get to max level. My vote would be for AoC.
Current: BDO
Looking forward to: Crowfall & Chronicles of Elyria
I played AoC at launch for about a year, and when I quit I was pretty unhappy with Funcom, but still liked the game itself. I played Aion for almost a year and ended up having an absolute hatred for the game. I went back to AoC and it was like I had found the greatest game ever. AoC has had it's share of problems, but they have improved it alot, and I am still enjoying it now. I definately recommend AoC over Aion by a huge margin.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
AoC is the better game.
Aion is a much healthier game however. It has a good population and has a lot more more being funneled into development. Funcom development is primarily going towards TSW.
Short term I'd play AoC, long term Aion
AoC has better combat on both pvp and pve (notice im only talking about combat)
having played both, I enjoy Aion more so than AoC, both are compelling for different reasons, but AION seems to be my choice for #2 game, #1 being Rift.
AOC has unlimited free time until 20 lvl, so go for a try. In my opinion is a very different mmo, smart combo skills, finishing blows etc very exciting. I played for about 4 months. Great fun of the game, but hate the developers , who manage to make a great idea sunk like this (bugs, no updates, pvp lvl grinds etc) . The way to lvl cap its magnificent.
About AION me and many friend from our clan manage to play for about... 1month. I name the game "the grinder". Sorry but not my style killing the same and the same sprite for ...ever!
+1 AOC
-1 AION
(rift is great!!! for a month or so. No end game content)
