Well sure u dont have to buy it but than u would be left bhind while every1 else will get the newest version and if u wish to play with ur mates you would be forced to but the expansions....
There are 2 facts i want to share with u: 1) Doesnt matter how hard u try, u cant lick ur ellbow. 2) 90% of the people who read it try to lick thier ellbows :P

u dont have to be poor cuz u dont want to pay for a video game... that is extreme nerdish and the guys who made the game dont fucking care about how good it is... they just care about the $$$... sad but true

I think my reasons would primarily be
1. No monthly fees.
2. Not time consuming ( or at least as much as WoW and Lineage)
3. I like the concept especially when it involves PvP. Its my forte'
4. It will provide me a sense of escapism fom my schedule and the fact that I don't have a date
The top five reasons for me is:
1 No monthly fee ( most of my friends are students, but where they get there money for beer, well i dont know lol..)
2 There a connection to diablo <i loved that game
3 Graphics
4 I love mmorpg games
5 It's great for dial-up connection's (but iv got broadband)
