All of the three games will surive as long as theres players, but all games will eventuly die. As for wich games of the three thats the best, its your personal choice. If somone likes WoW he does, if someone loves L2 he does and thats period. There aint no "best" game, if there where everyone would play it. So give it a rest, geez. As for me, ive played all of the games. L2 is a great game that I still play. As for EQ2, ive played it for 4 months and its a great game to. I plaued WoW in the US, KR, EU beta and 1 month on the regular EU servers. Great game too, but there where some serious downsides in that game.
Leveling. Its way to easy to ding 60, it took me only 3½ week to to that.
Players. The players on the servers they are acting like they just turned three or something. No wonder., mostly of the guys eiter come from any blizzard game OR from the Counter-Strike community.
Overestimated. The game got way to much PR just cus its a blizzard game. L2 and EQ2 could be just as big with that PR.
Im not saying that WoW isnt a good game, thats just the things a think did the game bad. All games has downsides but in WoW theyre displayed so open. As for boting cheating, and so on, it exists in all games. You cant say "Oh, Wow (or L2, EQ2) doesnt have any farmers etc. cus they do. Loads of em. Just check a site like IGE or any other moneyselling page, they sell it and loads of it. Too many people says that farming and such doesnt exist in WoW, but 3 weeks after it launched in the US they where selling on every server that existed. L2 got it to, but the people on the servers got "anti-farmer" campains and such and it got alot harder in C2 and will be much harder in C3. In EQ2 i didnt really see much of it, but hey, EQ2 got a big world.
So the real point is that all games will be great in the begining but they will be boring in the end. And boters, cheating, moneybuyers, lamers will always be there, just get used to it.

atleast blizzard took a stance on farming^^
and wow's pr is alot of word of mouth and like you said, "blizzard game"; and thats cool too tho, i like having lots of people to kill; war is hell.....i've seen the ads in game magazines, but not over-hyped like eq2's ad slots on tv and everywhere
we'll see what happens to wow in a couple months, but from release till now, its still going strong, ya know?....better than lin2, coh, ffix, and everything else......wow might be different, depends what blizzard decides to do with all that money; they could really do some special shit, if they fuck this up in the next couple of months, i'm done with wow.

I think NCsoft has the most depth in terms of the quality of games that they produce. Not to mention of the diversity and variety in their games. I must say tho that L2 grind is the worst amongst all, but their graphics reign supreme. Put it this way, after you played for a long long long time in a game, what is the most important thing that'll sustain you in the game? graphics is one of them... gameplay is obsolete after you are high level.
Yeah, WoW is still going strong, so is for example L2 too. L2 isnt as dead as everyone thinks. Just look at example Bartz. NCsoft has taken some stance from farmers too and taken actions against them, its just that the farmers are making better methods for farming. Since I dont live in the US I havent seen any Tv ads and stuff, and I think that Blizzard had much PR for WoW, since they did it in every country etc. WoW is going to be strong for some time, until people gets tired of it, it is they way of all MMO's. The only way to know is to wait 6 months to 1 year. Then well know wich is the "biggest and best" game.
Ermh.. Think thats all
From a Lineage II forum:
Just thought it would be fun to post that Lineage I and II put together account for a bit over 50% of the mmo market worldwide Lineage I or II alone decimate WoW in terms of subscribers data?
Popularity doesnt make a game good. Look at WoW, its history was excellent. L2 wasnt as well knowen as WoW as its history with Lineage was most popular in Asia. What would happen if Lineage had the same history and was sucessful in the Uk and Europe?
Its all about choice, you can only tell what the biggest game is not the best. We all like different things. I hate WoW thats just ME. YOU guys will probably like it. Its all about choice.
Many of you make interesting points. And many of you are misinformed.
To begin with I will lay out what I know and what I do not know.
I know that I played WoW and Lineage 2. And I know that I might be partial to L2. And I do not know how WoW is doing in Asia. I've heard things but it has not been convfirmed. I know that there are total of 32 servers in korea. And 9 in US for Lineage 2.
And now let me explain:
WoW I have played this game for about a month now. I am nearing level 30. When I first started, it wasn't that bad. But the more I played, the more I did not like. From my personal experience, I found the game a lot to be like Diablo 2. And Diable 2 isn't really a candidate for an MMORPG in my opinion. Most of the time I play, I run a lot. Then do quests because they're fast exp. And fly to IF to buy some items. Do more quests when guildmates are on. Chat and run some more. I do not like how the game requires that my left hand bound to the keyboard all the time. Yes, the pvp system is innovating but I personally find it very annoying. It isn't much of a pvp...more like playing Counter-Strike and running around in frenzy around the horde or the alliance fellow to kill him. And jumping around too... But ok, I can deal with it. I've played DoD before so that wasn't very challenging. By the time I hit lvl 24, I was getting sick of the quests. I never liked doing quests. So I started grinding. Grinding was pretty easy too and it made a lot of money for me. But then I thought... That this was going to be way more monotonous than L2 can ever get. Why? It may not be the same monster you kill over and over again...but it's the same pattern of things that you do every time you play. Log in, run, quest, grind, die, run back to body. Do some other stuff on the side for apparently no reason I can see at lvl 30, such as fishing and mining. Yes, they are extra money when it comes down to it. And it's pretty easy to get weapons and armors and what not... The most excitement I got from it was...never. The mobs having x-ray vision and long range sensors made me uber mad. So at this point, I really don't see any future for me playing WoW in hardcore mode. Sure, they say there are better things to come when I get to lvl 60...but it could be just their opinion.
L2 I have been playing Lineage 2 ever since the pre-prelude era. And I will tell you my heart was set on it from the start, where as I only played Wow because my friend plays it....and it is really rare for me to find a friend who plays any games online. I've been playing months, but I am only in the middle area of the level range (1-75). I have sucky gears and weapon. Well not so much the gears...just the weapon and helmet and boots and gloves and slowly the jewelry. But I see it as my hard earned treasures. For a while I haven't really played much because I was trying to make some adena by hunting weaker monsters (green, not blue), or reselling some materials at higher prices. That got me some money, but no advancement in lvl. But then lately I realized that grinding makes more money. It's just the psyche of things I guess. I mean...2.7 million sounds like an impossible amount of money. But by grinding i've made 900K already. You may think that it's not nearly close to the goal, but to me that number was impossible to reach by grinding in my head. Plus I have this tendency not to sell my old equipments too. If I did sell, I would be doing fairly well. Many people think grinding is excruciating. Yes, it is some times, but I think I got used to it. And if you're not feeling up to it, you can go lightly and play while watching TV or something. You might not think it would help playing half-assedly, but I found that it did help quite a bit. And I've went through many tragedies and unbelievable moments in L2. I've died and lost my Mithril set as a noob. That was devastating thing to happen. I nearly quit, I admit. But that lead to meeting new people..that were somewhat willing to help. So that was a really dark moment of my L2 life. Then there were times that made all the trouble worth it..I can't really recall what but I'm sure there was. Well, with all these things said about L2, it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Most people just want fast results for shortest amount of investment in time. In L2 you have to really earn it. Yeah I guess it's like a 2nd job, but it's really isn't. You just need to dedicate a solid hour or two everyday to get to lvl 40. then after that you need a lot of connections with people. That part sucked for me because none of my friends played the game.
Ok that was a lot of rambling but here is the conclusion: I am not going to say that Lineage 2 is better than WoW. Why? Because I can't decide for you that you have to like a game because I prefer some features of it over others. But I will say this...Lineage 2 is definitely not the inferior game to WoW either...this is not solely based on graphics of the game. I admit the graphics help me gather more strength to go on with the game at times. Lineage 2 has its own style of playing. It doesn't necessarily have to be a lot of grinding...that is of course if your sole purpose is not to level up. But the thing with WoW is that leveling up doesn't have to be an objective. I frankly consider that a fallacy, but I cannot make the judgement call on that. Funny to say, the player friendly aspect of WoW being easy overall was really not appealing to me. To me L2 felt more like a game because there was a certain feeling of accomplishment. Don't take these words personally. I am only describing what I felt. As for the longevity, I think WoW will have the edge over L2 just because it's more player friendly. And if the slump continues for L2, it might fold. I really hope Asia doesn't fall to WoW. Because Asia is what keeps NA L2 going. But then people do prefer easier things... So I would have to say for the time being, WoW has more chance of survival than L2. I haven't played EQ2 so I can't comment on that.
And as a side note, just because a game has more 'things' to do than level, it does not mean necessarily that it is a better game..
I pray to God that L2 will stay around until Chronicle 12. And I hope I will have the FP helmet by level 50. Dammit.
I dont mind hardcore games, but I would have to say I found Lineage 2 to be a JOB. Not a game to sit around and have fun---it became a straight up job. Only thing to do is grind, grind , grind. Castle seige every 2 weeks---Been there , took over the server , quit.
But answering the question....all will survive. And all for one same reason......People have different tastes.
/me bows for Nazarov Excellent post! Deeply touched hehe. Anyway, all the things you said is true, in my eyes anyway. All those endless hours of grinding just to hit that goal, or to get just that equipment in L2. Tho in Chronicle one, I personally felt like "No! I dont have the strength to grind so-so many hours, I dont see the point" but in Chronicle 2 its like "Woah, almost a new game!" tho i got 4 IRL ppl at lvl 50+ atm so I got top C duals/Heavy Armor. And just wait until Chronicle 3 (in may)! The game will be twice as "noob" friendly and graphic and stuff will get better. Maybe this post doesnt have a point, but in the end its all up to the players to decide what they will play:)
If your read March newletter very closely you will find an interesting tidbit of news in there where it states there are only 27, 000 subscribers left in the game.
Originally posted by paradyme This thread is still goin? If your read March newletter very closely you will find an interesting tidbit of news in there where it states there are only 27, 000 subscribers left in the game.
If you read it even closer, it says more than 27,000 people are cut down in pvp related matters, not the entire population of L2. Because I wasn't pked yesterday. And I doubt everybody in L2 get pked everyday.
All 3 will survive for years, but in WoW will stay only Diablo2 players and kids. It is not really RPG, it is very simple in my option, but WoW will survive like all blizzard's games.
Ok i don`t like Lineage 2 for its huge grind.....i like to grind a lil with friends or guild mates but in L2 its not the case since the drops are crappy .
Well i sold my WoW account 2 weeks ago because of the comunity on my server. Gonna buy it again these days and play on a RP server ...and if some of you think that im a Blizzard/WarCraft fanboy.......well ur hella right .
well what can i say about EverQuest II..i didn`t play it a lot .altho i kinda enjoyed the early PvE....i`l reactivate my acc when they stop the daMN "Cold War" ///
Lets be realistic ... all 3 games will survive....because they all have a strong fanbase.....and that they are the sequels to some impressive games ..... This post has been my Personal~ opinion on the matter...and i hope you dont consider it as a flame Over and out and sorry if my spelling isn`t right

Yup, here is what it really says:
Friends don't let friends die alone. Give away a free trial of Lineage 2 and share the pain.
Each day in the harsh world of Lineage II, more than 27,000 players are cut down in sword, arrow and magic-related incidents. The leading cause of death: other players. We urge you to grow your clans and strengthen yourself against this onslaught of PvP-related casualties. And were here to help.
Forward this email with the below serial code to someone who will use it within the next 30 days. This code can only be used once by a single individual, so choose that person carefully.
Remember: Only by bringing in more players can you hope to manage your chronic pain.
Lineage II Serial Code: ******-******-******-********
C3 will be so cool!
A-grade weapons, you will be able to fly dragons,
Seven Signs
Fight as part of one of two sides: The Revolutionary Army of Dusk and the Lords of Dawn, to control the great power of the Seals.
A-Grade Weapon
The most powerful weapons to date will be available to players who can complete a harrowing quest, or defeat powerful raid bosses.
Sub-Class System
At level 75, players can perform Mimir's Spring Water quest and seek out the master for the available class of their choice to create an additional job class. The only classes that don't mix are opposing Elf races, overlord and warsmith classes, or any similar classes.
Combat Points System
Combat Points offers a new dynamic to PvP situations, by adding an extra layer of protection when attacked by another player. CP total varies by class, recovers over time, and acts as a buffer that must be depleted before damage will affect your hit-points.

WoW, hands down. Lineage 2 is crap, EQ2 is good, but no one gives it a chance, and WoW is good and everybody gives it a chance.

You say that as if its a bad thing.
WoW isnt as good as many think.
Just a good reputation. If lineage had appealed out to more of America and Europe then it would of owned.
I guess any game named under Blizzard is bound to have alot of players Eg Diablo 1 and 2
Warcraft 2,3 and frozen throne. Big names means publicity.
Ballistic!

I think NCsoft has the most depth in terms of the quality of games that they produce. Not to mention of the diversity and variety in their games. I must say tho that L2 grind is the worst amongst all, but their graphics reign supreme. Yes, the pvp system is innovating but I personally find it very annoying.
It isn't much of a pvp...more like playing Counter-Strike and running around in frenzy around the horde or the alliance fellow to kill him. And jumping around too...

The most excitement I got from it was...never. The mobs having x-ray vision and long range sensors made me uber mad.
So at this point, I really don't see any future for me playing WoW in hardcore mode.
Sure, they say there are better things to come when I get to lvl 60...but it could be just their opinion.
L2
I have been playing Lineage 2 ever since the pre-prelude era.
Ok that was a lot of rambling but here is the conclusion:
I am not going to say that Lineage 2 is better than WoW.
Because when I hear 'i'm lvl 60 in WoW' versus 'I am level 60 in L2', I tend to ponder more on the feat of the L2 player than the WoW player.
So that is my take on this matter.
Dammit.
i reckon l2 will hold asia

First to die in USA...
Lineage 2, then EQ2, then WoW even with its current technical problems
This thread is still goin?
If your read March newletter very closely you will find an interesting tidbit of news in there where it states there are only 27, 000 subscribers left in the game.
lol what a cock up
27,000 people get pked
Loads of people left, many will be coming back from WoW bouncing from the server problems. I did.
Ballistic!
