    Just for the record:

Wow didn't add much "new" when it was released - it just did most things as well or better than all of the competition.   But it absolutely did add new, industry-changing things, along the way to now.

"Have you cenceled your WoW account to keep your Rift account?"

    HAHAHAHAHA no.

Rift is vastly inferior. I played it for 110 hours and for the majority of that time, I enjoyed it. However if you asked me to go back now, I would not even if you paid me to do so.

Interesting enough on this poll it seems to be a split decision. What dose that say for Rift? For me It is saying that Rift is a decent MMORPG for gamers. It maybe this or that or whatever, and if you are dead set against the game who cares go back to a game that you enjoy. It is not going to be the game that will be the end of WoW but it defensively scratched at its door.

I'm one of those who canceled WoW and kept playing Rift.

Yes, it is similar to WoW in many respects, but it's also a lot better in several other ways.

I'm not going to bother listing out all the whys and hows, because I've already done it so many times before. Simply I'll just say that Rift is a very solid game, and a much welcome alternative to WoW.

All the people ingame dropping wow references are quite annoying to me. It's like a big mass of people you don't want to meet but can't get away from. Sure you can switch off chat but then again you also just play single player games.

Seems to me that people that are in Rift are looking for something that is not wow.

this is the one taht gets me, so when in walmart you never talk about another store?  Or compare a movie you just saw against another?  People talk about wow in rift because they cam or played wow at one time or another.  Say what you want but until wow is gone it will be bought up in any MMO that resembles it in anyway.

Well..I already canceled my wow accounts 5 or 6 times to play other games, so yes, I did again. I played some cataclysm, but after leveling a little green woman till 62, I was done with the game again. I'm at the stage that I can only play WoW again for a few weeks when there is new content, but get bored soon. After 6 years of WoW on and off, not so strange I guess. I started Rift in beta 4, still play Rift and enjoy it. It's new enough for me to keep me from being bored. But i also finished Dragon Age 2 in the same time and I have a very fun time in Minecraft .
