Just thought I'd start a topic that moves away from the constant bickering of numbers, population speculation, pros, cons, etc, and just talk about what you're currently doing in RIFT.
I myself am working on leveling a Zealot/Pally/RandomThirdClass and a Necromancer/Warlock/Chloromancer (which I'm really enjoying because of the health drains + damage that restores health). My Mage is working his way through the last few parts of Stonefield, and I kind of took a break from him to level up the Warrior. IT's a little harder for me playing a melee class, because I'm so used to playing casters, but the Zealot is pretty cool. I'm ~13 in Freemarch still, doing the Scared Mire quests. I'll probably get him to 15, then go and grab up all the hidden treasure chests+puzzle loot under water.
Also I'll just add, if anyone is on Arcanis, I'm Zolgar (Mage) and Khorne (Warrior).

I'm trying to work out a smooth Cabalist attack rotation or plan. The dps is too good to not use the Cabalist soul, but it really doesn't flow well. Inquisitor flows much better, but the dps just isn't there.
I'm leveling an alt Mage in my 'main' guild and I'm leveling an alt Warrior in another guild. It might take awhile to get them all leveled.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Leveling a Rogue Assasin build, lvl 21 (almost 22)
Trying to finish up all the quests in the area, and when I get bored with that I run pvp and Iron Tombs.
I'm currently waiting for customer support to get my account and billing working. Third week now I'm waiting for that. (Sorry for sort of OT but I really couldn't resist)
I'm doing expert dungeons with the guild whenever I get the chance to. Otherwise I do daily quests for notoriety or normal dungeons, also for notoriety. I also like to work on achievements. Atm I'm doing achievements under 'zones', zone by zone. I also spend some time on the AH selling and buying stuff. The selling is mostly from gathering and drops during dungeons and doing achievements while the buying is more focussed on artifats I want to have. Other things are do are joining invasions when someone announces them in the chat and doing rifts by myself. Aside that I'm also roaming around taking screenshots or slowly progressing alts.
I used to do a lot of PvP but the unbalance postponed that to the next major patch ^^

I log in to do my crafting daily to see if I get a plaque. Haven't gotten one in a week. then I sit and wonder what to do next, but can't stand the idea of running more experts over and over, wasting my night away. so I log on my cleric alt but sit there after doing one mind numbing quest after another wishing I had an alternative leveling path to take this time around.
Yeah....so I'm not happy with Rift at the moment, endgame and lack of alternative leveling areas is the main cause. Was GREAT until I hit 50 on my mage and then had to do the tired treadmill endgame that I can't seem to get away from these days.
SWTOR, GW2 and ArcheAge literally can not launch soon enough for me.
Have had the game for two weeks now and am only level 12. I get distracted chasing rifts, looking for artifacts and I keep running around looking at the artwork.
Yeah, im sure those 3 will be fantastic and that you will have years and years of endless fun until life fades from your body, very very old, with a life full of enjoyement caused by finally finding the perfect MMO videogames...
They will be the same, this are games...
On topic: Ims till doing my t1 dungeons since im only 3 days in level 50. Need to gear up because my guild is starting to Raid next week and since im investing in a Chloromancer/Warlock build I bet ill have a spot =P
I see you had a kneejerk reaction to my disappointment in Rift endgame. I forgive you. You may want to research the 3 games I mentioned and realize that AT LAUNCH they are going to offer 10 times what I currently have in Rift. SWTOR alone, with 200 hours on average storyline PER CLASS, means I'll have 16 characters to play(one for each advanced class), multiply that times 200 and you get the idea. Yes, that WILL last me years.
Oh, I have a chloro/warlock build. Along with EVERY other mage in the game because if you DON'T have it people think you're batty. Also, a raid only needs 1 chloro. Multiple chloro's suck in a raid. Also, you will find you are replaced VERY often by Bards because they are just better at support and dps than a chloro. Granted, I like chloro, but I prefer using my stormcaller build anyway. But again, this is about the fact that raiding and experts are the ONLY things to do at endgame. I had that type of endgame play in WoW and Lotro, must we continue to beat the deadhorse with this tired mechanic?
Slowly leveling my 40 rogue, I don't log in as much as I did in the first month.
Dont get me wrong mate, that was not to be meant as a critic, more of a way to show my lack of faith of any real change on the MMO's mechanics.
And because of that I tend to enjoy what I have instead of praying to the future games Gods. And thats whats happening with Rift, im having fun with it, alot.
About SWTOR, im also with high expectations because ive played the old Kotors and pretty much every Bioware games and what raises my hopes more is the fact that this will not be games based on dungeons or endgame but more on story and lore, with hours of conversations and moral choices. Can't wait to see it...
Fair enough. Don't get me wrong though, I did enjoy the first 2 months. A lot. It's just where I am now in the game..I find myself not wanting to log in, which is usually a sign that the game is boring and offers nothing new. It offered me a WoW experience, but it only lasted 2 months. My original experience with WoW lasted about 6 months to a year before I took a break. I truly think it's because Rift launched with such a small world and no other starting area alternatives, where as in WoW I remember playing 4 different characters and every single one of those went down a completely different zone/quest line.
Lol @ "AT LAUNCH they are going to..." phrase.
maybe we need to see if they can deliver the goods first no?
imho SWTOR and GW are way too overhyped.......i hope for them that they can deliver.
on topic tough: i am still lvling my 4 chars as i feel (one of each calling).
Not rushing or anything.....so i'll be busy for a while i guess
I think people are going to do the same in SWTOR. Rush to the end game and complain that there is nothing to do
I didn't rush. It doesn't take long to level in Rift, at all. Personally, I like a game where I can hit max level and then start an alt to experience other parts of the game. Rift does NOT have this. Also, not everyone likes the current WoW/Lotro/Rift endgame where you grind dungeons for gear/tokens over and over and over and over and...just to do the same with the Raid content. Perhaps if there was more meaningful worldPVP to fill the gap or housing then I wouldn't mind so much. Or even a massive storyline to persue delivered via awesome cutscenes, a la FFXI style.
i feel you there m8........more games could use some good old housing and open world PVP (altough i dont like pvp that much myself but i believe it should be part of any mmoRPG).
Well, I'm trying to round out my blue set so i can begin dungeon raiding so I'm accumulating cash and replacing things with the best that I can either grind out via faction or purchase from the auction house. (for the life of me I can't find a decent set of chain gloves or a belt)
Looking for a new guild, my old one sort of imploded and merged with another raiding clan (natural selection at its finest) however somehow it seems since I wasn't actively raiding with the group I was left behind in the merger. Its OK, they're way ahead of me (T2+) and I need to find a group of players just starting through the dungeon grind.
Mostly I'm just killing time until I figure out something else to play.

i have nothing to do really, i have cleared all end game content and ahve no desire to level another characer to grind out dungeons, although it was nice being one of the first 50s and geting 20 plaques per teir 2, the raids are fun and i still log in for them, but other then that i find myself playing other games, i really wish there were more zones or the pvp wasnt so bad
Similar to what I've been doing. Do my daily crafting if I'm able to (sometimes requires a rare recipe I don't have). I can't bring myself to create an alt where I know I'll be doing the same quests, so logging in for daily quests and then back out again. I like elements of Rift, I love the Trion team, just wish the leveling hadn't been so fast (which I really tried to slow down with other diversions), and wish there were more starting areas.
But honestly not really waiting on any of the upcoming MMO's. GW2 might be a neat diversion for awhile, but don't intend to pick up the others, at release anyway. So hopefully Rift will have some more non-raiding content added at some point since I'll be sticking it out for awhile.
Thank you. Glad to see I'm not the only one with the same viewpoint.
Only been playing a week, so barely scratched the surface. I'm thinking that now the river of souls event is now done, maybe the game will get old a little sooner. Hopefully they'll do something like it on a regular basis.
So far I have a mage level 22, rogue 12 plus a coupe of lower levels. Thinking clerics suck at low level so far...
Have a lvl 30 warrior, 28 cleric, 20 mage & a friend started last night so a 11 rogue
My time is limited due to work, but I've been doing expert dungeons/Rifts - Raid Rifts and dailies right now.
Gearing up for Greenscale. I've dropped my playtime to about 15 hours a week, so I'm hoping more content becomes available as I get through Greenscale and eventually River of Souls. At this pace that will be around the 6 month mark.
