Hi i'm a Guild Wars player that has been struck (as many other) with the Guild Wars 2 hype high. Right now i'm looking into playing the awesome race Norn. But there thing that keep me from being 100% if this is the race i'm going to play is the transformation. Now the though about being able to transform to one of the four animals is cool. The screenshot of the Norn bear give me a small nerd boner. But what really worries me is if your amor will be shown aswell. I don't about you people but i would hate to be lv80 with some epic looking gear and transform into a... naked bear with a hammer... Have anyone read some information if the armor will be visible once you transform. I know there are some concept art with a white bear wear Gardian armor. Anyone?

I haven't heard one way or the other about this, but I would doubt if you would be able to see your armor when you transform, because if you transform into a snow leapord or a wolf you would be running on all fours which would be odd looking if you had some humanoid armor on. Plus, if some people opt for the armor that hides almost every part of your body, you wouldn't be able to tell when you transform. I seriously doubt if you'll be able to see your armor when you transform, but again, I haven't seen anything that says you won't be able to.
Besides, you'll be in regular old Norn form a lot so you'll have plenty of time to drool over a set of awesome armor.

Two things a) are you sure the snow leopard and the wolf will wakj/run on four legs? and b) is this: http://www.guildwars2.com/global/includes/images/concept-art/guildwars2-22.jpg a pet or Norn Guardian?
That is a member of an NPC race, the Kodan.

A) I don't see why they wouldn't, but also think about how they would go about making the raven if everything was on 2 legs.
That is an NPC race, see the link above. The Kodan are polar bears and as far as I know you turn into sort of a grizzly bear type with the Norn skill, not a polar bear.
There is also this picture but the wolf here most likely is a ranger pet.

Transformed norn are were-beasts, not true beasts, so their part norn and part the animal. Bear form art shows them standing on two legs.
I get to flourish lore and game knowledge again, whee!
Yeah, the Norn are definitely bipedal, we saw a Norn bear in the Norn section of the Races of Tyria trailer, you could tell it was because they actually have a were-creature aspect about them. For example: They're not entirely covered in fur, they just have patches of it. And another example of how it's different from, say, the Charr or Kodan is that they have a more human appearance even in animal form, so the werewolves look slightly more like... say, a bipedal version of the American Werewolf from London werewolf, we've seen this in the concept art, where their ears are shorter and tucked to their heads in a more human-like way than actual wolf ears.
Armour will disappear when assuming a Norn animal form, as was answered in Ghosts of Ascalon where a Norn assumes her Snow Leopard form and her armour disappears. She's essntially 'naked' but she does retain her weapon. The transformations of the Norn in Guild Wars 1 also followed this approach, wherein weapon/shield will be retained but any armour adorning the body will disappear.
I believe the skill will actually work more like a buff that changes your sills for a limited time as I'm certain I read on the Guild Wars 2 wiki that the Bear form at least is a timed skill. So you'll activate the skill, shift, keep your armour/weapons, and perhaps your weapon skills might change based upon your new form. It's helpful to think of this in a similar way to how the Asura golem racial skill works for a clearer picture of how Norn shapeshifts will probably be.
hope that helps!
Guild wars 2 wiki:The transformation between norn and were-form is described as a blurring between the two with the form transformed into gaining a solid appearance over a short period of time. Any clothing or armor worn by the norn is covered by the were-form
Theres your answer my boy ^_^
hehehe,hahahahaHAHAHAHA
laughing Hyena, get used to it -_-
Thanks for backing up what I said with further sources, thta's helpful. I wish I'd thought to check the wiki, but instead I just went with the Ghosts of Ascalon explanation, which essentially said the same thing, but isn't as easy for people to verify.
Good call.
This video should give you a rough idea of what the Norn look like when they are in there different forms. Just as a note this is the bear form for Norn NPCs in GW. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBqmD1QzPnY
I wish I could find the concept art for the Norn wolves, too. @_@ If anyone is more familiar with the sources of concept art than I and wants to help out, then I'd appreciate it, in the interim, I'll keep looking. But that was a great bit of art that showed how different a Norn wolf is from both a Hollywood werewolf or a more modern werewolf, it's closer to the werewolves as depicted in mythology. More lycanthropy than werewolf. Really interesting.
(Even worse is that I think I might have seen it when going through the GW artists on CGHub. Oh well, too tired to look that up now, I'll try and find it later!)

Is this what you are looking for?

That's a great piece of art but it's not the one, specifically. I've been looking for it, too, but I've found it hard to find.
The reason I want this piece of art is because it really depicts well what ArenaNet are doing with the Norn animal forms. It was a bunch of Norn wolves from behind, they... sort of looked like American Werewolf in London werewolves from behind, but more human, their ears were tucked in close to their head, but they had snouts, and they had skin which was occasionally broken up by patches of fur. It was a real good indicator of what they were going for, and it's easy to visualise something like that when you can see it in front of you.
I've had no luck finding it though, which is a shame.
I wonder how the "were-raven" will look...

I feel like I could die happy just knowing this game will come out.

Alright, i though the Norns transformation was kinda like the shamans in WOW, where you are max lv with you epic gear but never able to play the game with it, or like the arm mutation the marauder had in Warhammer. If it's just a short buff then it might work for me. Do you know it the apperance of the transformation will change att all in the game or will it look the same at Lv.1 vs Lv.80? And is the skills is an Epic skill right?

That's not the norn elite skill which turns you into a leopard. That is part of an event which turns you into an actual leopard. Anet stated this. We also know that elite skills won't become available until around level 30 while this is a low level Norn. Further more, the norn animal forms are half-norn/half-beast.
ok,thx.i hope elite worth a slot on skill bar
There's some info in the new buffed magazine about it actually.. read it on guru:
Eliteskills: In the animal-form you will get new skills, there are some crazy ones among them. One of them lets you throw the enemy above your head. An other lets you jump really high with a following crush down to hurl the foes away.
So yeah.. they should be worth a slot;)
Eat me!
i hope all races are getting some nice perks too
