LF some people to start with

Remember i checked this game out waaaaay back. Now i've decided to give this game a serious try. Im tired of searching for a decent MMO, and all the new ones just dont cut it for me. I wish i could go back to the time where EQ and DaoC were at its prime :P

Anyhooow...Haven't created a char yet or decided on a server yet due to maintenance. But if some one is interested to start out with me on any of the servers just gimme a shout. Would be cool to have atleast 2-3 people to play with ;D

I have a few characters between 15 and 20.  When you get to that range make a post and I might join in.  I started this a few months back. We went from 12 people to 4 in about 2 weeks.  Down to two after a month or two.  Then we just stopped.

Good luck to you.  I hope your group works out better than mine did.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

FYI, it doesnt matter what level people are, you can always mentor (high level) down to the appropriate level.

I also played the trial a while back. After playing all the "new" mmo's I decided to give it another shot. Currently playing the trial but will most likely sub at the end of the 14 days. I am game for grouping. PM me. I have heard of Twilyght Song and will look to join up.

    Current: BDO
Looking forward to: Crowfall & Chronicles of Elyria

I came back to this game last summer.  Ultimately, I had a good time, but I was chased away by all the WoW-hating vanboys that are so prevalent amongst the population there.

I don't understand, you left the game because a lot of players in Vanguard didn't like WoW? How would that affect your gameplay in Vanguard?

Im honestly curious, not trying to be a dick.

The WoW hating has calmed down......its all about the Rift hating now

I was thinking the same thing, but was a bit afraid to write it, because I thought I would come off as a dick. Which is not the case, I just find it incredible odd.

Sorry but i think you are making this up just to convince yourself with an excuse why you left Vanguard. I play alot and have done for 4 years and i have never read anything in GC about WOW hating.

Nope it's not hating on RIFT at all,it's Vanguard players leaving for RIFT then coming back to Vanguard with their tails between their legs forgetting their over the top chat about RIFT being the new mmo to kill all others.

I tried so hard to get this game to work on my computer, but after downloading all the new drivers...changing settings, and a bunch of other random things the game still wouldn't work. I got in once for about 5 mins, and tried to lower some settings to play smoother...then the game froze and I got a blue screen of death. If they can make this game just WORK like all the other MMO's I've played then I'll play it, but since I can't currently get in....I guess I'm out of luck. (Yes I meet or exceed minimum specs, AND I did get help from C.S. but on a 14 day trial I don't see a point in spending the first 4 or 5 days trying to make it work)

I have been debating spending my summer re subbing FFXI. I loved the group heavy gameplay and have gotten really sick of the theme park games. Playing rift now to keep my wife happy, but my semester is almost over and I'll have free time to sink into something I want to play.  FFXI was my first mmo and while I miss it, I know its system isn't friendly to new players since the vets have all leveld the jobs they wanted and you cant find groups your level. I'll have to look into Vanguard.

I was playing off any on for a few months, then my comp crashed. Now I'm at the end of the semester, and grading up a storm, but I hope to be back in VG in May. I can second that twighlyte Song is a great active guild and they run a bunch of events for even non-guildies.

I'm starting up again.  I'll only be in for a couple months, but I remember liking this game a lot (almost as much as EQ back in the day).  Hope y'all are having fun.  I'm sure I'll join with a name like Bezalel, and I'll be lookin y'all up when it's done dl'ing.

Cool, I'm gonna look up that guild that has been mentioned. And to something else, anyone else LOVE logging into the game and listening to that great soundtrack at the character screen? Goosebumps!

The one thing that always brings me back to Vanguard is the atmosphere this game creates, the music and scenery is something that no other game past or present can recreate.  It's immersive, and games are not made like this anymore.

I was always in the crowd of "I hate soe for the way they treat this game and i'm not going to sub because of it"  but everytime I come back the moment I land in this game, you get that "feeling" back.... and you remember why you love this game.

I'm sure alot of people fall into the same category, but after trying every single other mmo out there and constantly being let down I am back in Vanguard and I am just going to play this amazing game, and say hell with SOE.... someday they may "get it".

PS... if you are someone like me who has played in the past, and are just coming back or thinking about it, the guild Twilight Song is really good... come join us.

Ah yes very well said! The athomsphere is incredible, very very immersive. You just want to play and explore, no matter what the game is, this is something I rarely find in other games.

the other day I was exploring this spider cave I found that had lower lvl mobs but they were more "elite". Because of that they actually game my character a run for it's money but didn't give any xp. But it still didn't matter because the simple act of exploring was being satisfied.

This was one of the number one things I thought that mmo's were going to be about and yet most aren't.

There are like 10 quest for the spider cave, you get them in town.  It's like a beginners dungeon. Each 10-20 level area has one.

You know i did the trial some months ago, mabey close to a year ago.  It wasnt what i was looking for at the time, too much fluff, no pvp, and the trial island left a bad taste in my mough of what the game was going ot be like, basically one quest line, despite that might no be the case.

However, after a month of Rift, and a few weeks playing MMOFPS games, im thinking i might like a mmorpg witha  good community, and some fluff.

So i gotta ask, what on earth has changed with vanguard in the last year that requires a 2hr update?  Have they ever added new content?

What have they done to improve the game in the last year that would require such a significant update?

Im really not all that interested in vanguard to be honest, but i hate having to make a new email and station account every time i want to give a game a revisit to see if its right for my mood at the time, am i going to be treated to the same boring, one quest chain, noob island thats all but dead again?

Basically what im saying, if nothing changed i just may cancel this huge update (i mean why is there such a big update needed if they didnt add new material?)
