RIFT-RAFTING

AtaakaAtaaka Member UncommonPosts: 213

After a failed download, my beginnings just weren't that promising. Finally, I was able to logon, choose a faction, and create a character... An avatar is born. There was chaos and confusion, they ruled the starting zone like an epic cataclysm (no pun intended). I checked my feelings; I felt good.  I simply focused on myself and casually moved along the storyline. I was not disappointed with gameplay, bugs, graphics, nor content... WoW!

I play mages. It's my love since the Beta of Asheron's Call. I know you've had your eyeful of RIFT comments, and I just dont care to offer an opinion about what I like vs. what I don't like. I can only tell you that the DEVS seemed to think of everything before launch... I am impressed.

The PVP system is always good when your avatar is standing after a skirmish. However, when you find yourself face-down, palmed to the lifestone (oh yea...old school term), you just want to rage... I didn't feel that after my frst defeat. Instead, like most others I'm sure, I turned to a trainer and reset my skills (souls).  RIFT is so charismatic, dynamic, and powerful, it has  distracted me from the Real World (RW), I often find myself aimlessly running around absorbing XP from one of the  four ways I find enjoyable... Questing, PVP'ing, Dungeon Raids, Grinding, and RAFTING (Surfing from RIFT to RIFT... I know...that's five ways...).

'RAFTING' is the crux of the game. It is the reason I play. Without it, RIFT is nothing more than a pretty MMOG that allows multiclassing.

I hope that someone who is discerning and yet patient will come along and join the beginning of an Epic-Level game such as RIFT, where everything is all about what you want to do to pass the time away, in the fashion you see fit. The game is improving daily, smooth patches and minimal downtime means absorbtion, immersion and fun are only a mouse-click away.

This is my two-cents worth of rave... Enjoy.

Ataaka -because it moves doesn't mean I need to kill it.

All these pro-Rift threads are killing me! I was already happy with Rift in the Beta, now I want to play it more than ever. Sadly, I'm holding onto my money until Zelda: OoT 3D comes out, then I plan to buy a 3DS and that at the same time. It's maddening seeing Rift on sale at Amazon for $30 and so tempting to just buy it! Heck, for $10 more I can get the Collector's edition which includes a free mount! Arghh!

~Miles "Tails" Prower out! Catch me if you can!

Give it 6+ months Miles.  Rift has.. AT MOST.. 30 days of quality play time.. more than that and it's just a chore.  Rifts get old.  REALLY old.  And they re-pop in the SAME places OVER and OVER and OVER.

My 3DS is WAY more interesting.  SSFIV is totally bad arse.

Don't worry, it's the 1 month of awesome, that spawns 99% of the pro-posts. I got bored in like 12 days, but I thought it was pretty bad-ass, as of yesterday.

Whats wrong with saying the game is fun and they like it? Its ok to criticize but not praise? I see way more bad post than good ones. Its a good change of pace for me...

Sure it's a quality game, but it lacks innovation. Players already tired of the same ol' same ol' will soon tire of this game and as a new innovative alternative presents itself, this game's days are numbered.

    Enjoy it while it lasts.

    Have you ever played golf?

it's the most boring game ever. I'm not even talking miniature golf which feels like it moves along. I'm talking regular "get your buddies together on a Saturday and tee off" golf.

Same thing over and over. But people love it. They buy silly outfits and join expensive clubs and they play golf.

Have you ever watched golf? It's eons more boring than playing golf. But people love it.

Now, you might think that Rift has, at most, 30 days of quality play time but can you really say for certain that everyone will think the same?
