Yes, now is the time to get in the game. The Dawn Expansion is going to add an incredible amount of features. The new secret dungeon which hasn't been announced is teased here: http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/61342-dawn-screenshot-discussion-2.html#post1136992
Forget the naysayers.
Mortal CM:
Seems like nothing is considered an expansion unless there are new dungeons to grind, and new continents to explore, much like the type of expansions theme-park games chug out, and people are more than happy to play the exact same thing, convincing themselves that they are actually doing something new. Mortal Online will for now focus on things that increase actual game mechanics, instead of trapping people into Skinner Boxes, and convince them that everything they were doing before is new.
That's right. More revolutionary gameplay. Don't get left behind!
Edit to add: Please let us stay focused on discussing the newly teased DUNGEON SCREENSHOT linked in the original post. if you want to discuss other MO or Dawn related items please use one of the pre-existing threads to do so. Also, let's try and keep this as a positive experience so negative comments are not appreciated.

When does this God expansion happen?
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
George Washington
Not sure what you mean by that, but the DAWN expansion was originally scheduled for this month but was pushed back to mid May to insure the highest quality release for the players.

This sounds like an infomercial I almost fell for about selling stuff for SMC. I think it had Tom Bosley (Mr. C on Happy Days) hocking it.
I'll believe it when I see it. I already bought the full loot bag and was disappointed, it's going to take a lot for me to give them any more money.
HI! Billy Mays here, and I've got another astounding product just for YOU!
Are you tired of being left behind, and seeing everyone else experiencing more revolutionary gameplay? Well NO MORE! Because now there's THE DAWN EXPANSION! Sorry to say this and i dont usually but this game was dead when they started creating it
Billy Mays could have sold lamb chops to the president of PETA.
Yes.. it had a rough launch with some issues like lag, desynch, crashes, exploits, broken mechanics... but much of that was apparently caused by problems with Epic Games. The server can stay up all day now (keep your fingers crossed that the expansion doesn't change that)!!!! Finally the game can start to reach it's potential which has long been talked about but never realized. There are about a dozen people online in the major towns like Meduli and Fabernum now. The population is picking up. It even looks like we might get a secret unannounced dungeon in the expansion! The game is on sale from D2D for around $17 today. Now is the time!

Don't believe everything you read on the internet, either.
Most actual players, myself included, believe that the Dawn expansion will add many good elements to the game, including the dungeon, and is essentially just another step in improving the game. I don't know of any that have used the type of blatantly exaggerated terminology found here to describe the Dawn expansion, nor have I seen any that claim that the addition of a dungeon is the only thing that MO will ever need.
Just take a quick look around and see what people who play the game are saying, and compare them to the exaggerated verbage found in the original post of this thread. Even SV has been more measured - all they did was release one dungeon screenshot, not proclaim it a major, game-changing feature and "best dungeon EVAH!".

nuf said.
The swing CM tried to take at themeparks in that post did look rather.. pathetic. Guess they are new to the word "content"
Might come back to check it out, with all the disappointing games that have been released MO isn't such a bad game in comparison.
Let's see what happens.
Content often depends on the type of game.
"Add another ride" makes perfect sense as the focus for expanding a themepark game.
With sandbox games, I think it has to be more than just that. Certainly, adding mobs or dungeons is important as well. But, to make the sandbox self-perpetuating, the content needs to broaden or improve the framework of the game, and improve the interrelationships between elements on that framework. I believe this is what some of the elements included in Dawn are attempting to do.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Im not disagreeing with that, I just think it's low and pathetic taking swing at other games while they can't get theirs to work.
Let's stay focused on the NEW DUNGEON guys. I for one am stoked!
That screen looks sweet. This could be the DAWN of a new age.

MO is a sandbox, because its not a theme park mmo, thats for sure, and there is no restrctions on where you can go in the world, you can do every profesion from the start and fight every boss, not to mention it is not instanced.
theres no defined objective such as maxing out your levels or completing all the raids, which is the end game, a sandbox doesnt have a end game,
sandboxes are driven by player actions, the end game content is there from the start, and wha keeps you to the game is the interaction between players that creates player driven content with the tools known as "content" that help players to create their own "content" such as wars, politics, building cities, sutff like that, being a merchant, being a butcher, being a amoursmith, running a business, if the tools are there, then you can use them to do what you can do.
the setting of a game have nothing to do with theme park or sandbox, it merely a word to determine the type of game it is, one that leads you by the hand, (pointing you to npc quests) in a linear way, and one that leaves you to make your own decisions. *all quests there from the start" or "no quests at all"
the best way to determine if its a sandbox or not is by the game mechinics.
most game sandboxes follow
no level system
no restrictions on player actions such as going to a place
open ended world
no instances - only one world that connects everyone
a world that you can change
a sandbox does not need to have these mechinics, but its easier to make them this way.
theres a difference between a sandbox themed game and a true sandbox, which is completey player driven, the more player driven a game, the more snabdox it is.
mo is quite close to a true sandbox, but darkfall is not, xsyon is not, dawntide is close, haven and hearh is close, wurm online is quite close
xsyon- it has 2 many virtual restrictions
darkfall- it focuses on element, that forces players to do something, and its impossible to do anything else
mo- theres a few, but pvp is main focus, but its not impossible to not pvp at all and enjoy other aspects of the game
wurm online and havn and hearth are quite sandboxy
Agreed. I have tried this game 2 times now, once at launch and once about a month ago. Both times I couldn't get past how ugly my character was, how horrible the controls/UI were, and how boring the game was within my first 5 minutes.
Darkfall is the better of this "type" of game and even that one has issues with controls and UI but not to the extent that MO has.
how exactly is darkfall better then MO?
the only thing better in darkfall is the terrority control system with the addition of boats.
not to mention Mortal online has more professions then darkfall and much more complex and in depth.
does it ever occur to you why darkfall is known as "a pvp arena"
you have global banks, mo has local banks for example.
Mo has breeding, you have horses made out of plants, that can go in your bag.
mo has butchery, you have creatures you kill and sell their loot.
mo has complex armour crafting system, you have static armours
p.s also darkfall has better AI pathfinding.
Lol this thread does sound like a bad sales pitch but seeing as ole Billy has passed on to that great salesyard in the sky maybe the Shamwow guy can take his place.

one of the posts mentioned player interaction. As a trial player this is my MO experience with player interaction. As I am running towards a city - You! Stop Running! (pulls sword) - needless to say I did not slow down. Second experience. What guild are you in? (I fumble trying to get chat working hmmmm type 05.. no, hmm try hitting z and typing 05...) Too late - running fight where he kills my toon who is a woodchopper. Truly wish they had the standard chat line at the bottom of the screen where you could just type something. but no. lol. I do like this game but it seems in some cases they reinvented the wheel and didn't tell anyone how to use that strange pair of oval shaped things on the axle.
Currently bored with MMO's.
Always checked my wallet after seeing the shamwow guy on tv. He just did not seem to portray someone you could trust with the women and livestock.
Currently bored with MMO's.
That pîcture looks pretty pathetic...it seems like powder to the eyes, there is some sort of goofy blur effect to hide the fact that there is nothing to show but a wall texture and a tree...
Picture looks incredible. The fact that they made this a surprise dungeon (no hype) is even better!
Game just needs the expansion to release! Mortal will not pursue the normal Expansion content of most Themepark games. Instead the devs strive to give us a new and unique experience. I am sure that this dungeon will blow away anything in your average themepark games.
