So... from the OP review it appears that there is still a lot of work to be done to make it a productive multi player game.

    ...

? Are we talking about the same things?

Could you please link or quote to what you were referring to, because I think we're talking about 2 different topics.

    From the OP linked article;

"Getting back to our multiplayer experiment, BioWare did inform us that we could group but noted that it would probably be better to do so a little later on as the early bits of the game are very much focused on your class storyline."

"BioWare’s Associate Lead Designer Emmanuel Lusinchi who assured us that a lot of the UI elements were in flux and some of the UI issues I mentioned were already addressed in a later build."

That will do... there is more if you read the review.

I chose those two quotes because those are from Bioware.  There are other things the reviewer thinks need attention too but that is his opinion.

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

Ah, you meant those quotes, hadn't even given them much thought.

The UI I agree with, various reports seemed to have indicated that more people had some issues with it, although from what I saw in the screens I wouldn't mind it that much how it is now.

The multiplayer aspect I disagree: there were quite a lot of reports that talked about players going ahead with it and actually having fun with it.

The ease with which predictions are made on these forums:
Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

Yes.  But even in the original review here the reviewer admits there were parts that would be fun for one person while the others were left waiting?

"There are a good deal of phases that result in combat and having a friend along can sure be helpful, but without knowing which is which ahead of time your friends are often left basically dancing around waiting for you to finish your conversations should they decide to tag along."

In a one day look ahead experience shows that people will overlook things like this (Honeymoon Period).  But, once the initial shine wears off MMO players (for the most part) thend to lose patience with mechanics like this.

The "Sidequest dialogue" comments were interesting - again - I would be interested to see player reaction to it after a month of play.  Allowing anyone limited access for a day doesn't allow them to really explore how the mechanic works and their feelings to it when it is no longer 'new'.

"We found ourselves wading through an almost obscene amount of combat too, usually against the type of wild beasties and bandits that typify every RPG, ever – but in greater quantity and in an area which felt far smaller."

This sounds exactly like Dragon Age 2..

You can still use some abilities that don't generate heat,  or you can vent your heat to use your abilities faster.

Basically it's a reverse of the energy mechanic for WoW's rogue class then?

Attack A adding x heat instead of subtracting x energy?

As far as a low-level BH heating up too fast, I suspect there must be a heat-dispersion improvement talent or two in the BH's shared talent tree, but that doesn't detract from the point that Force/Heat/etc mechanics are probably going to be being tinkered with for a long time to come.
