As a former Lvl 40 Rogue in EQ2 I am happy to see that the top 5 games does NOT have EQ2 in it and on top got beat by UO? LOL

I could never get immersed in Ultima Online although I can see how people would enjoy it, but the fact that a game that's seven years old is rated higher than one that's just been released just says so much about both of them.
Considering your such an experienced EQ2 player I guess you're right firemagic. I mean, there's no way all the WoW fanboys jumped on the review page and gave EQ2 a 1 without even playing it is there? I'm not going to say the games a 9 or even an 8.5 for that matter. I would give it about an 8 (which is what I did give it on here) and I gave other games what I thought they deserved. And I have yet to rate/review a game I've never even played, considering it's a worthless opinion because how would I know how good it is without playing it? I think that's a lesson everyone should learn.
And before you start firemagic, I'm not saying you can't have an opinion on the game. But what good is someones opinion when they haven't even played it?

So what were you then? It just seems wiered beacuse you don't see a whole lot of 40 rogue's looking for groups. I guess if you say i'm a fanboy I am, considering you've seen all my posts on here.
It's also "category" and "fanboy". It's just lame when people attack other people's spelling, because there is always bound to be a mistake in their post aswell. I'm sure there is one in mine too, but I don't care. English isn't my native language.

Laneo, he said why he doesnt think you played the game. You said lvl 40 ROGUE. You change your class at lvl 20. So you obviosly lied. Its very hard to make a mistake on saying what class you are, thats why I think you are lieing.
And who cares if EQ2 in the top five, I like it, alot of other people like it, the game has around 400,000 people I think, correct me if im wrong. Not everything is numbers. Look at lineage, they have way more subscribers then any other game, and the game isnt even in the top 10. EQ2 will get higher in ranks once everyone gets bored with WoW, which is very soon.

I am currently a Lvl 41 Mage in WoW and it is getting boring day by day because the content isn't up to par with the high levels!
The matter is that UO has CONTENT which is much more superior then GRAPHICS. Its the reason that UO ranks higher than EQ2 atm. EQ2 thought the graphics will pull them ahead ( I even thought so pre-release) but after my gameplay and experience I moved on.
IMO if games want to make it nowadays they will and BETTER put Content over Visuals because the Next Generation MMORPG will be looked at as "Content > Graphics".
I myself am looking forward to upcoming games that use the Skill based approach to leveling vice Level based.

Although there's no way of testing your suggestion that a lot of WoW fans have rated EQ2 with 1's without even playing it, I share your opinion that the likelihood is quite high.
The question we need to ask is why are certain people possessed to rate a game badly when they haven't even played it? The usual idiotic, copout answer is "because they're fanboys", but a more realistic explanation might be that it's the result of a negative feedback loop caused by a long-built-up resentment towards SOE combined with a feeling of relief that another big player with a strong reputation has entered the MMO industry.
It goes without saying that the ratings on this site aren't the final arbiter of a game's worth, but they do seem to reflect the zeitgeist.
Having said all this, I agree that if you genuinely enjoy doing something and no-one's getting hurt by it, then popular opinion becomes completely irrelevant (which might help explain why I continue posting on this forum).

Do you honestly believe that yourself? I mean deep down, do you REALLY think that people will get bored of wow and jump ship to eq2?
You DO know that eq2 has been out longer then wow has, right? Its the other way around mate, people playing eq2 got tired of it after about 2 weeks, the less intelligent after a month and the truly idiotic after 2 months. In about 2-3 months the most rabid fanboys will also abandon it for the better game, WoW.

I agree Firemagic. If you like doing something and it doesn't hurt anyone, go for it. It just seems the low intelligence trolls are on the prowl such as Laneo or whatever his name is. And Laneo, I don't feel I have to explain to you why I like the game. I've stated why I like it several times in the past. All I did was simply ask what you were so I could tell if you really actually palyed the game. And the fact that you refused to answer that question is an answer in itself.
AS far as Pirrg goes, who knows who will get bored with what? I'm sure some will get bored withnWoW and some will get bored with EQ2. It happens with every game.
By the way Laneo, when did I "judge people comapared to my beliefs"? First off that sentence makes about zero sense. And you were the one that was correcting my spelling. Maybe after you formulate a coherent sentence you can talk to me about my spelling. So the question remains, what class were you? I have never said that people have to agree with me. I just feel to be able to review a mmorpg properly you have to had played it for more than a few days.

Im not defending EQ2, but goddamn you are avoiding this question that everyone is asking! It is impossible to be a level 40 Rogue, and atleast 3 people have asked what class you are and you keep avoiding it. Jesus, its not that hard!
That's an interesting theory, and I do believe there is some merit to it. Clearly some percentage of people are so antagonistic toward SOE that they will simply do whatever they can, in their tiny view of the world, to try to cause SOE to fail. (I won't get into their reasons, as some may be legitimate and some not)
However
, I do think the answer you deem idiotic and a copout accounts for most of it. As we observe day in day out on this board, there are a lot of people who simply: (1) irrationally worship Blizzard, (2) root for Blizzard and WOW to prevail regardless of all else, much as most normal people root for sports teams (ok maybe it's not always that "normal" lol), and/or (3) seem for some reason to *need* the affirmation of seeing that large numbers of people, preferably the largest number, play the game they've chosen. Since for some reason they see EQ either as the current throne-holder or the main competition, they focus this on EQ2 and SOE, *but* you do see the effect applied to other games too, as you can easily see some fanboys immediately dismiss other games, including currently Wish, for no apparent reason other than they want to make sure it doesn't "beat" WOW.
Lol I bet he is looking it up online. I think its quite funny how so many people on this site critisize a game they have never played and they avoid any questions to prove that they have played it. Kinda like Laneo and Firemagic.

Hmm I went thru 3 pages not to read the usual rambling of firemagic but to actually see out of intrest what class he was.
To my dear suprise he never answered.
Yeah,its weird to call yourself a 40 rogue and can't blame people for saying "huh" because anyone that ever played EQ2 would tell you that no one goes around calling themselves a 40 rogue.At least I never seen that and i am a 40 guardian and seems others here have not seen that too.
So it did seems like a very unusual mistake for someone that actually played the game.It looked more like someone that hit the front page of EQ2 and never even bothered to look at where the classes lead to really.

Yeah that's the whole reason I brought it up. I'm not 100% sure if he's played it or not, but in his "review" he had no facts to back up why he didn't like it. That was when I was first curious of him. Then he called himself a "40 rogue" and I was pretty sure he was full of crap. And the fact he hasn't answered such an easy question further brings his credibility into question.
I could care less if he likes it or not. But I hate when people review anything movies, music, games, etc. when they have never even tried them. I thought I would just call him on his bullshit.
