This rollercoaster ride that is waiting for beta, sux.

For a game in our top ten, they sure are releasing very little amounts of info for the NA release.  Look how long the Korean one has been out, and look how close we are to targeted launch.

I heard they're sending beta invites right now, should probably go watch your inbox.

EnMasse's policy is that they are not going to release info on the game until the game is ready.   They don't want to say something now then have to explain why a feature was changed 3 months down the road.

Ready? Game is already ready. All that's taking so long is "westernization".... they're not changing anything. All they're there for is to prepare the game for western audiences. No more no less. Why does it take so long? I don't know. As I don't know the complexities of the "westernization" process, I can't comment.

Edit: Oh correction there is one thing I do recall them changing and that is some of the Elin armor sets. Something regarding tights and Western perceptions. I won't get into that though as that is a whole nother stupid story.

They might be taking the time to add some decent voice acting, which would be neat.

About the Elin though, if anybody ever makes a mod that let's me change a models race appearance (on c:drive/ locally) I would do that in a heartbeat. The Elin creep me out.

No the game is not ready.  EnMass has said that tera will launch in the west with lvl60 content and that content has not even hit the test servers in Korea.

I'm tired of people saying the game is ready when it's clearly not.  If it launched today then people would bitch that it launched with no end game.

BHS had to release the game early in Korea (for funding reasons or pressure from the publisher / I'm not really sure) but I do believe that BHS wants tera to be launched in the west with full lvl60 content, something they could not do in Korea.

go to terafans.com - you can get relevant and current information regarding the korean client and North American/Europe testing experiences not covered by NDA.

Basically NHN has released 2011-early 2012 schedule of updates which should let you know where the developers are at korean side, they have also said they are not releasing the client to China until NA and Japan clients are finished which lets us all know they are working diligently for our versions.

;) from what I can tell you is a lot of work has been done but is not yet ready for us to test externally. We has a community play event which was levels 1-17 of translated material only for general gameplay (meaning none of the westernization changes were available for us yet beyond translation).

be patient! i am confident it will arrive sometime this year and the korean expansions will follow soon after!

Voice acting, quest text (yicks), certain armor features (I don't see how this is stupid, lots of people ocmplained about how some of the races looked already), Extra content, voice acting, translation that doesn't look like google translated it for them, voice acting, Game polish (due to the numerous amount of hacks in this game right now and we know how much western players likes to hack as much as esatern players :P), voice acting that doesn't sounds like a troll or a baby is doing them, redo cutscenes voiceovers.

So yeah, lots to change compare to your generalisation of ""westernization".... they're not changing anything"

unless "Ready? Game is already ready"  unless your ready is applied to the Korean version, then I suggest go play on their servers instead. (even the korean version is lacking in content, just look how fail DCUO is right now)

Sorry but there are no hacks in the game.  But if you can show me proof that there are then I will eat my words.  There have been a lot of false rumors being floated around and it mostly comes from the "mmosite community"  and we all know how much BS & down right lies comes from that site.

From what i've heard; they had to release Tera incomplete over in korea with a lvl 52 cap out of 60 because it was that incomplete.

  • AngelicdreamAngelicdream Member UncommonPosts: 5

FIrst there hasn't been any word on any type of Beta testing yet. So advise you don't try looking at your inbox every hour, this will just be a waste of time. Once En Masse decides to set up a Beta date, you will know.

To clarify the Korean Launch. The game was complete during launch, Tera originally starts off with a level cap of 50. Not 52, yes Korea rushed into launching, but they still had a solid game. Currently the Korean version has entered a new testing phase for their first massive update called "The Claw of Destruction". This update will include the level cap raised to 58, server cross server battles and a few more goodies.

With the upcoming updates in Korea Tera will be the game it is meant to be. Though we are not here for the Korean version we are here for the North American version. I'm glad that En Masse is taking their time in setting up the game for a western audience. It is killer to be sitting here and waiting, but in the end it will be wroth it.

Let's just assume that more news will come during this years E3 event, to which En Masse will be attending.

Yes, you are right. The game is ready and they are just bored of releasing it already. They are holding off to actually acquiring money. That makes total sense.

If EnMasse and Frogster want to release a good game, then they should release what they allready have as open beta and listen to the players what the western audience wants to be changed other then the language.

The korean version of the game is allready pretty damn good as it is and I personally don't see anything actually, besides the language, that needs to be changed. Content needs to be added, that's all, but that's happening with the korean version currently.

Remodeling the Elin or other races costumes is actually exactly the very opposite of what I want, as I actually want that asian style instead of a westernized one.

My biggest fear is, that the westernized version will be complete rubbish compared to the korean version. Totally dumbed down, with even faster progression then the allready very easy to level korean version and even less penalties for killing or being killed in PvP etc.

People criticize a company for releasing a game to soon and they criticize a company for taking too long to release.   It's a no win situation.

    Gamers are so impatient.

I doubt graficly thing will change, Those who want to play tera are people who do like this stuff. I belive what they mean by westernization has to do with culture differences in terms of the quests. There may be things that we just wont get it so they do want to make it in a way the westerners feel comfterble with the lore and the gears behind it.

I doubt it will just be that, have you seen the direct eastern mmo ports to the U.S.? With the time En masse is taking they seem to be working out little details. For example: the little midget race in the game (whos name escapes me) is getting all legwear extended because lolicon isn't necessarily appreciated here in the west and the under-garments are visible in the korean version so..I've also heard quest changes, voice overs and a good translation of the in game text.

On another note let them take all the time they want. I'd be willing to wait as long as possible to have the best quality possible of an MMO they can produce. Criticizing them for taking to long is just dumb.

It's really not a matter of what we want in the west,  it's about what the ESRB dictates.

Oh no I agree, its just the way of things in the west is what I meant to get across. But that was just an example of where cultures clash on this and for ratings or gameplay reasons I imagine enmasse is working on things like that.

I think a lot of the testing EnMass / FGTs will do this summer will be about PvP rule sets.  Totally changing the story line is a given (they have already shown us how they are doing it during the SDCC vip party last year).   They will be giving us a sample of the english voice overs in a week or two.

I really can't wait to try out this game but I understand they still have a long ways to go.  I can wait :)

I have followed the development of this game and if they go the same route as other top korean games, this mean short release in the west after the asian one, it will fall in exactly in the same traps.

Lack of content, grind, huge holes in character progression, and total absence of pvp content. In few words it is just an other L2 with a fps like combat system and even that system doesn't seam to perform that well. I didn't played the game, and didn't really wanted to once i had made myself a better idea. My first impression was the game will be great though, just like it was with L2 and Aion, even if i think Aion was a dimension better content wise than L2, but Tera isn't a NCsoft game so you really can't say the progression will follow the same rythm.

Also i might be bit too negative, i'm pretty sure i'm not far at all from reality. In any case they decided to give the western company a "lot" of resource and possibilities to adapt it to the western market. This is just sounding very false to me, with time it look more like they are waiting for the end of the first korean year release because they know the first year is a payed beta in mmo world, and when you are a stranger its even harder to make it swallow. But that won't make it guys really, i think your are dreaming there where the sun rise, you really have to put some real content in the mmos now if you want to be a top mmo, this is already a given fact.

  • RequiamerRequiamer Member Posts: 2,034

I would love some backup there to your fix.

Anyone that tested the game in beta or in korean release claimed it. Character progression have holes just like it was in Aion. The combat system isn't polished yet even though the box are out in korea, you still see some lack of animation blending in the turn to face the oponent. There is pretty much no info about pvp even though the game is released which is totally unbeleivable. Quest hubs to quest hubs progression have been confirmed...
