Considering this game - Got some questions.

JazuhJazuh Member Posts: 31

So in preparation for Guild Wars 2, I'm interested in going back and try the first game to get to know the story better.

I'm mainly interested in the campaigns and will for the most part be soloing as my time is sparse so can't really put that much effort into the social aspects as I'd like.

I'm mainly wondering if this game is possible to solo the entire way through alone? I've read slightly up on the henchmenn mechanic but I don't know how it works or if it is any good.

And what is the best main & secondary class to choose for soloing?

Thanks!

You can play solo with any profession combination. (note: primary proffesion cannot be changed, but secondary can).

But be aware that 'soloing' isn't going to fight alone in this game (for the most part). Soloing in this game means you'll do missions alone with your heroes/henchmens. Henchmens are AI characters that act like real people to fullfill roles in your party. Every outpost/town has a few different henchmens you can choose to play with, while heroes can only be gained in certain missions/champaigns. Only champaigns that can give you heroes are Nightfall and Eye of the North. You get them as you progress trough the story.

Whats difference between heroes and henchmens? Heroes skills can be changed as you like them to be (also their armor) while henchmens are fixed into one default build. If you have enough unlocked skills heroes are much better than henchmens.

Recent game update allows you to take full hero party with you, so doing missions solo is now considerably easier.

The only thing you won't be able to do solo (so easy) are elite areas/missions, where help from other players is recommended.

    Hope this helps.

    Also few other tips.

    - while doing missions and quests taking a full party is recommended

    - term 'solo' in this game refers to 'solo farming'. Find out more at gw wiki.

I just wanted to point out some more information about your question about gw.

When you start playing a champaign for the first time you play in normal mode. Playing with henchmens will be easy enough, there's some more difficult missions but every one of them can be done solo with henchmens.

After you beat the champaign in normal mode, you unlock the hard mode. Playing with henchmen in hard mode is also possible but considerably harder. Playing with heroes with right builds gets a lot easier.

Remember that you can play trough all champaigns with characters you made in any champaign.

Also, heroes you unlock can be used in all champaigns aswell (but only on character that unlocked them).

For the best (not best, but most popular) builds for heroes and you, check out this page:

For help beating the missions press F10 in-game and type the name of your mission or find it in the list. (it will open up a gw wiki with walktrough)

    Have fun!
