Games with heavy world pvp?

halldorrhalldorr Member UncommonPosts: 105

Looking for game suggestions that contain a lot of world pvp - perferably tab targetting in them but not necessary. And while I know many games have it (like WoW for example) there isn't often really any world PVP going on or reason to do it (again, like WoW - we PVP in a box).

Bonus if the game has stealth classes :)

You should clearly check Warhammer Online (WAR), tons of World PvP there, also realm vs realm and battlegrounds PvP. Tab targetting, and stealth classes.

If you want a different game, 100% PvP focus, open pvp with full loot, check Darkfall Online. Non targetting system, stealth is not a skill, you have to manually hide behind rocks, trees etc and don't make noise to be in "stealth"

i have to agree with Treyu86, War is probably the only game left with a good ammount of world pvp even thout it ends up mostly being huge zergs of people rushing to capture keeps when the timers go off. probably the only game left with such a thing as active world pvp. BG pvp is also very active.

DF is not really pvp heavy, it's more like a huge pve grind with the random gank squad killing you. wile they do have sieges and large battles it doesnt happen all that often and if you are a nube you pretty much watch most fights from a far or die very quickly. of the 2 months i'v played DF i'v only seen 1 large battle and i ended up watching most of it from the sidelines naked :(.  98% of the rest of the time it was pretty much me either farming goblins or gathering mats, with the odd vet coming arround every 3 or 4 hours to gank me.

    DAoC!

It's old.. but still has some of the best PvP.. it's down to one server cluster but still thousands of players on.  It has one of the largest varieties of classes to choose from including many stealth ones (ranged and assassin types)

You can PvP from level 1... but the best PvP happens in the frontiers and/or labyrinth where you need to be high level.  When I last went back we got to max level in just a few weeks with zero power-leveling and we pretty much did it by sticking to the persistant Battlegrounds (they are grouped every 5 levels and get increasingly larger and more complex... eventually having multiple keeps and towers to fight over).

If you haven't tried DAoC before you should give it a spin (free triel).   IMHO it's way better than WAR or DF, although both of those games use much newer technology so they look better and run smoother as well.

I'd say DAoC and EVE Online are two games to try if you want to get into regular world PVP.

EVE has stealth ships, and a reason to PVP. No place is safe (even the so called safe zones) and world PVP is always going on.

    Playing - EVE, Wurm

Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi

    Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem

I am trying Forsaken World for now to see how it goes. EVE is a game I really want to get into but am so overwhelmed to start off. I have enough skills for a covert ops ship but honestly still don't know what I'm doing yet lol.

    The failed ones.

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

I second Slapshots recommendation of  DAoC, clearly still, and probably forever, the one and only true world(read:server PvP game) that had meaning and kept people going for years.

It is and will be the king of heavy world PvP, Warhammer fell short sadly(why? instanced PvP for groups and DaoC in it's prime had none of this}, but is till a viable product.
