LFG Tool 1.2 Why it's needed

GrailerGrailer Member UncommonPosts: 893

Because everytime I see someone spamming LFG in chat Im thinking of them like I think of the gold seller spam begging for something. I know this is wrong but it's just annoying someone spaming LFG over and over , Usually I end up ignoring  them.

So this LFG tool will be a blessing as my ignore list is getting bigger every day.

So, basically, you do not support someone looking for other someones in a multiplayer game?

    Intriguing.

Ive never supported global chat channels in an RPG it totally ruins any immersion or roleplaying.

I guess playing Ultima Online for 3 years ( the ultimate sandbox game ) and EQ1 ( beginning of the end )  for 2 years then playing Rift and it hasnt enough content to last 2 months !!

And yet a tool that automatically dumps you into a group with 4 other strangers who you've never met, let alone spoken to, doesn't impact your immersion or roleplaying?

    Color me confused.

I think what OP is saying is instead of spamming the chat channels..there will be a separate U.I. windows that active seekers can use instead.

I think he's just saying the LFG tool is a good tool in general because it lessens the spam. But this my friend is a very very good idea! A seperate UI chat window specifically for LFG type chat is genius. I would start a thread on this because I think this would solve the spam problem and the LFG lobby type game/immersion problem.

More than likely not.  It would be cool for a few weeks until no healers or tanks are looking for groups, then the looking for group interface would slowly or quickly migrate back to global chat.

I'm not putting your ideas down by any means, but I've watched this happen.

Well, then they could start bribing the tanks and healers like they are in WoW's 4.1 patch. ^^  I'm hoping that the LFG system will make it easier to get parties for dungeons. We shall see.

Why would they migrate back when the LFG chat would work exactly the same way as global chat? There would be no reason not to use LFG chat when it does exactly the same and more (get your message seen more easily since there's less spam and more on topic messages). Just had to shoot down my love plane on that one huh.

Odd chat above, cross server dungeon finder ruins what little community is left (and their ain't much)/ Crosss server pvp is essental tho.

To clarify my earlier point mergers are desparately needed, and would sort out 90% of the issues.  Unfortunately some ppl are too pig headed to admit they were wrong, dam, I generally would rather punch that sort of person rather than pay them money, but here I am paying them money.

Good thing it's not cross server then, right? ;)

Cross server, doesn't matter, if no one is on a server it acheives nothing.   The clearly need to merge servers.

I really don´t understand why u put in your ignore list people LFG.....

You´ll end up with nobody to group with......

Did you know u are playing a multiplayer game?? o.0

Really looking forward to LFD tool. Doing some dungeons in guild, but will do much more with the tool.
    Hate spamming a chat channel!

You don't have to ignore people though. Just leave the channel if you're not interrested for the moment.

Cross-server would be good for the shards with low pop, but like someone said, server merge is the real answer to that. I guess that when long term pop trend is well established, merges will happen, but this will not be in the near future.
If players are in a hurry, I suggest to re-roll on another server.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea at all, but most of the playerbase will dictate wich one is used.  If LFG is a toggle function, it will never be used as some people don't know they want to run with a party until asked.  Therefore, the global chat would be better for finding a member simply because of the extra few people that may become spontaneously interested when asked and would not have not given thought to LFG.

On the flip side it could work out in favor for LFG if people were able to turn of global chat.  But, the natural human thought process of needing to be seen/heard/laughed at by as many people as possible, when LFG chatters outweigh global chat chatters then the trolligolienoids and sellers would switch as well - defeating the purpose of having a separate chat.

Unless of course we're put on a leash and unable to chat, but just click a looking for this thing button with the message of "Spoontyoo is now looking for a group for Dungeon#5."  Then it would be too easy to spam without certain cooldowns on 'looking for' messages, but would make it extremely difficult to legitimately change reasons for looking for a group.

It is an awesome idea, but we are not awesome beings.

I think a dungeon finder tool is fine, but I don't want to ever see anything that is cross server. I'd rather see server mergers.

I can't speak for all servers, but on Kaleida (pvp) I log on at odd times, like early in the morning or really late at night, and rarely have problems finding people to do stuff.  If there aren't enough people to slam rifts, I'll do battle grounds for awhile and work on quests while que'ing up.  I DID have to leave my original guild though, because I think I might be the only active player left in it, but I found another guild quickly while playing one of my alts.  I'm sure some servers are suffering population drop of some sort, it's natural, but surely ALL of the servers are not having issues.

Can't speak for two months from now, but I'm happy with the current scenario at the moment.

Well... About the time that Trion does merge some of the servers, the Haters and WoW fan kiddies would be in hysterical glee.. "Its the END if Rift!!"... So, I suspect they will put that off as long as possible. Not to mention that the majority of servers in prime time I've seen, are at least medium(if not out right full).  A good dungeon finder system would make getting into dungeon groups one hell of a lot easier for many people.  Especially those of us who lack the time to endlessly spam LFG chat, and lack a friends/guild list thats active all the time.

I prefer seeing people "advertising" LFG in chat as it makes it seem that there are players out there.

hmmm, different strokes for different foks I suppose. Imagine that!

I"ve always thought EQ had the best LFG tool. You type "/lfg" in the chat channel and you are flagged LFG. Like being flagged PvP. Players can search by level and class and even what zone players are in with another simple chat command. From there, one or two tells and your group is formed. You don't have to spam chat channels for a group either, just put it on and wait. Yes, you would probably wait forever and ever these days, especially depending on your level and class, but that's not the LFG tool's fault.

Is there any other PvP in Rift beyond Battle grounds?

Just the 4 different "Warfronts" they provide + open world pvp on selected servers.

Lots of it from what I hear on the PvP shards.

I am on the PvP shard and there is occasional fight with some enemies, but it is completely random and chaotic, nothing like organized group fights. Is there something on higher levels to promote RvR or large scale fights except Warfronts? I guess if it is it must be on high level.
