Ok, so I haven't posted on this board in quite a long time. I have checked some posts out every once in a while but until recently hadn't really had the desire to speak, maybe because when I joined and was active, there was a lull in the amount of new RPGs actually being releases, although god knows they announced many and delayed many around this time.
Ok, enough of that.
Mainly my first topic is the abuse of the term fanboi(AKA Fanboy). Ok, i'm not trying to start a flame war but I honestly believe calling someone a "fanboi" just because they like a particular company or game is nonsense. Take WoW for example, I love them game (You people can say that this is a covert praise thread for the game but I assure you I'm just using it as an example). But while playing it and a few times on the board, if someone says "I prefer the game's quest system for leveling over the standard kill 1000 things to level, they get labeled a 'fanboi'". During the first few days if you said it was launch week and most games suck on launch week, then again you were labelled "fanboi". Personally I really like the stylized graphics the game employs. To me, it's good to see companies steer clear of trying to make everything photo-real. I know there are people who will refuse to play a game because of graphics.
A supporting example of this is the Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (I brought a console game to a PC game discussion, someone will probably label me a Nintendo "fanboi" now), I know people who, to this day refuse to play the game despite hearing it has excellent gameplay because of it's cartoon style cel shaded graphics.
But just to let you know, their are people who are true fanboys. People who will only play a game because of what it is based on or the company that released it, despite personally disliking the game because they believe something based off of such a thing will one day live up to its name and in the mean time will trudge through it just hoping and wishing. I can admit WoW has flaws, lack of classes and the lack of customization for you character so it looks different from other people are 2 glaring flaws, but to me the good outshines the bad, that's basically what happens in MMORPGs, you like like a game because the good outshines the bad.
All in all I'm just trying to say if most people thought a game truly sucked they would stop playing. Or at least stop playing for now and come back several months later to see if they fixed it, and if not they would quit again. If I hated Windwaker, I would have stopped playing despite that fact that I loved all the other Zelda's except Majora's Mask because i found it boring.
Sorry for the rant, I guess I had to welcome myself back with a bang.

No, you're completely wrong. Someone who says that isn't labaled a "fanboi". Thre only person who would call someone a "fanboi" for that is a "fanboi" of another game.
My definition would be someone that always praises their game, no matter what. They'll find an excuse for anything and everything that goes wrong, and flame anyone who thinks otherwise. That and what Kiamde said, "Toolbag who flames another game to "protect" their game.".

Welcome Back!
Apparently, I guess I'm a 'fanboi' with WoW. but hey, I just like the game. is that so wrong?
its good to know that if I ever need attention all I need to do is die
Welcome back.
I find people on this forum use the word "Fanboi" when they cant think of a constructive arguement.
Personally I am a WoW Fanboi because I love the game.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

I'd have to agree with him there. I think a true fanboi is just when they cannot accept that their game has flaws (every game has them), so they instead just try to point out the cons of another game. Or when they cannot accept that someone else doesn't care for their game and chooses another; people are entitled to their opinions and just because you don't agree with them doesn't mean they're wrong.
Anyways, welcome back!
