First MMO experience

Hellu!

So this weekend, while checking out FFXIV, I finally got my wife to try an MMO with me and my brother. As it turns out, I probably cant run FFXIV satisfactory on my laptop doh! She was really looking forward to the whole FF thingy, so I've been looking into FFXI also but I just dont want her first mmo experience to be "looking for group". So now I'm turning to EQ2 or maybe VG. These both seem like solid games that could keep us occupied for some time. The issue here is population really. Will there be enough ppl around the lower levels? Will 2-3 of us manage to get things done?

Or is there perhaps a game I've overlooked? It has to be in a fantasy setting, and themepark-ish. We run a small business IRL and there is simply no time for sandbox games anymore. Quick and shallow enjoyment ftw ;)

(we will not be trying WoW or Rift, for different reasons)

Many thanks for any input!

Boy did you pick a bad a bad time.

Long story short: All SOE games are down indefinatly due to their databanks being hacked.

Ya bad time for all SOE games until if / when servers come back online.

I would go with Vanguard, to me its a better built game, I would say both EQ2 and Vanguard require about the same system spects. But Vanguard is a DUO game ( You need someone ) then it's the best as long as you have a partner.

The only other choice since you have a small list you will not play would be LOTRO, however the quest, and classes are somewhat boring. BUT LOTRO will play on any computer, and it has a trial that you could play for several days before you run into the pay content.
