I played Mortal Online for like two weeks, and I found this game to be 100X Worse than I thought Dark Fall was, Currently play Dark Fall.

Mortal Online, Collectors, or Full Bag OF Lewt is a piece of crap, as said below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3tVXpLyMx8 Compare to wow collectors or any others you have purchased, even RIFT.

Here are some other things to Look at unless it has changed.

    1. No ability to train all skills like Dark Fall.

    2. Corrupt GM's, as we all know their past history where GM's screwed over guilds by assisting them in combat.

    3. No Tutorial, no sign of what to do.

    4. Night Time, you can't even see where you are going what you are doing.

    5. Multi Hacks at its finest, the ability to use ESP, Wall Hacks, Speed Hacks, No Fall damage, and not get banned, or detected & such, this was really bad when I was there and released almost as soon as the game came out.

    6. Character Creation not so good.

Mortal Online is a fail version of Dark Fall in my opinion and they could have done way better before release of such a game but didn't, I am saving my money for game developers that actually try, and make the right choices.

Other than a Crap of a game, and the time it take to download the game It worked perfectly fine.

Although I think this post is a TROLL, but meh what can I say this is what I have found, and seen in the game, and it was a perfect waste of $50 +

Ya. Similar reasons why I quit. I really want this game to succeed but the developers are the definition of fail. I guess you could call this a troll? I just wanted to express my feelings on the matter.

Talking bout the issues..and keepin it funky.

How long has it been since either of you have actually played Mortal Online? The game is in a MUCH better state than it was even a few months ago...

If you haven't played it any time recently, I would suggest you at least give the 2 week trial a shot. If you are still operating on your negative impression from beta or around launch time, you really have no business making comments about it in its current state.

When just getting to the character selection screen is still an achievement,  and when the launcher is still developped by a player, its safe to say it hasn't improved all that much isn't it?...

That seems a thoroughly unresponsive response. Since apparently you don't want to mentionwhen you last played, when was the last time you got stuck on or before the character selection screen?  Personally, I've never had a problem launching the game.

    @ Renoaku

    1. No ability to train all skills like Dark Fall. ---different design decisions. If you prefer a game whereeveryone can be fully proficient at all skills, that's a personal preference, not a flaw in the other game.  I would note however that being able to train all skills basically means that if you don't make an "Ace of all trades" you are choosing to gimp your own character.  Because of this, Aventurine added specializations (basically just a REALLY high skill cap)

    2. We all know that some people have made such accusations, but I don't find those reports terribly credible.

    3. Granted. they are working on that. How's the tutorial in Darkfall? How was it a year ago (i.e. the same age as MO now)?

    4. personal preference -- use a torch

No need to play the game, reading forum post is easy enough to see numbers of posts with people trying the game and struggling to get to login screen, endless launcher issues, and oh, last time I played the game, mobs and people were flying, and it seems like they still are...

Playing for 3 weeks, last patch was 2 months ago, combat is still bugged, ppl warping and hitting you from 10-20 meters away, server is lagging bad because of this lag issue Dawn expansion will be delayed.

    1. Training all skills is bad thing imo, but skill points in MO too limited, forcing ppl who like to play MO into making multiple accounts.

    2. There is guild in MO called AQ every now and then when they lose fight ppl get banned because GMs backing them.

The proofs are: chat logs where AQ members promising bans, chat logs when AQ members know about someone's ban even before actual ban, GM teleporting and warning AQ members when their houses attacked.

    3. Still no tutorial, even resting is trained by talking to npc, its also hidden in dialog option, this produces some noobs that cant even heal their hp.

    4. Everyone use gamma adjustment turning nights into days.

    5. There are few hacks that i've seen, but simply pushing movement keys (WASD) simultaneously with arrow keys makes you turn and run twice faster, this is considered exploit but again AQ members never banned for using this.

    6. Character creation shows bugged stats, when you re-log you see actual stats. There is still no confirmation from devs about character size (height) affecting movement speed.

Already at launch they had a decent introduction to the game, iirc, with quests and all. Ive tried it about half a year-year ago, and was greeted by a chain of quests that gave me a good overview of the game. While in MO until very recently you just entered the world with no tutors or intro around, and even now it is done extremely poor (Go chop wood, go collect mushrooms, done).

Combat is bugged at the moment. I am not arguing with that. They have some technical issues that they clearly need to work out. Still, the game is playable regardless of this fact. There is a lot of exaggeration on this forum to make it look like the game was around release. That is just not true.

    1. Training all skills is bad thing imo, but skill points in MO too limited, forcing ppl who like to play MO into making multiple accounts.

In my opinion, the limitation to skill points is a very good thing for the game. It requires that each character play a carefully defined role and it ensures that each different role is important. For instance, because you can't be a warrior/archer/mage like in a certain other game, ther are actually warriors, archers and mages - each requiring different tactics to engage in combat. The skill point limitation also results in people playing dedicated crafters and this bolsters the game economy. Sure, some people may pay for multiple accounts if they really like the game, but how is that different from people paying for two accounts in Darkfall so that they can keep one of them gathering all day while the other does some other boring grind?

This is a rumor and is not confirmed. You will hear rumors on every game forum and I have heard similar rumors regarding certain guilds in Darkfall. I usually tend not to believe any said rumors unless there is verifiable proof. Which there isn't. Chat logs can be falsified and things can be taken out of context. I am willing to admit that what you are saying may have happened, but there is some degree of corruption in every game. Until I experience it and it personally affects me, I'm not going to be overly concerned with what some anonymous tool on a forum says.

    3. Still no tutorial, even resting is trained by talking to npc, its also hidden in dialog option, this produces some noobs that cant even heal their hp.

I had a pretty easy time figuring out what I was doing in the first 20 minutes. There is a help file and a big 'Press 'H' for Help' message when you get into the game. Its too pad some people are too stupid to figure things out, but I don't think that is SV's fault. They could do more to make the noob experience smoother, but I would say it is still superior to being ganked by veterans over and over again for months like in a certain other game.

    4. Everyone use gamma adjustment turning nights into days.

I don't. So I guess not everyone does that. Still, I wouldn't really consider adjusting your monitor settings to be exploiting.

    5. There are few hacks that i've seen, but simply pushing movement keys (WASD) simultaneously with arrow keys makes you turn and run twice faster, this is considered exploit but again AQ members never banned for using this.

I have not experienced this. I would imagine it is probably an exploit from a time before I was playing MO.

    6. Character creation shows bugged stats, when you re-log you see actual stats. There is still no confirmation from devs about character size (height) affecting movement speed.

I read on the forums that character size does not affect movement speed... but I admit I don't know that for sure. There is a lot I still don't know about the game and I actually appreciate the fact that there are things that the community still needs to figure out about how the world works. It makes things more interesting to me.

Anything to respond to that Anubisan?

Oh sorry, I was busy enjoying the game and wasn't paying attention to the forums.

In summary, I have never said that Mortal Online is not without problems. It clearly has loads of technical issues and a LONG way to go before it will be the perfect sandbox game. Still, it is much more fun to play at this stage than many people give it credit for. Many of you are holding onto your negative experiences from how the game was in beta or around release. You jump all over anything positive that anyone has to say about the game and take every opportunity to paint it in a negative light. And yet I would bet that most of you who spend your time trashing the game here haven't actually played it in a long time. The common definition of that behavior is trolling.

Many of you fail to apparently realize that this is a very small indy team and that if you like even the idea behind the game, you should be giving the developers your support. They admitted when the game released that it was nowhere near where they hoped it would be and that they were FORCED to release it early due to financial problems. They have made great (albeit slow) progress since that time and have not been given the credit they deserve.

God please MMORPG.COM fix your editor... I cannot type below the box.  Anyhow:

I cannot speak for anyone but myself.  I most recently tried the game end of Feb beginning of March when the Free Trial launched .  I was told a very similar story to the one you paint, but when I returned I was quite disappointed in the state of the game.  I documented my return in this thread: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/308348/My-NEW-journey-into-Mortal-Online.html

Some people aren't going to like it no matter how it is.

If you are one of those people though, maybe you should ask yourself why you spend so much time on this forum trying to make others not enjoy it too?

I was responding to your blanket statement about people who don't like the game haven't played it since release.  For the record, I am looking forward to trying it again when DAWN releases.  That was supposed to be soon, but has been indefinately delayed due to the server issues.  Once they release it I hope to similarly document my journey back!

Dunno, why do you spend so much time on this forum listening to people doing it?

People aren't going to like it "no matter how it is".

That doesn't mean anything, its yet another excuse. I'm pretty sure if MO had as little bugs as most MMO's, had as much content as DFO, a real good world design and more stuff to do other than PvP, yes then I'm pretty confident people would like it.

So yes it matters how it is, that's precisely what matters.

Interesting to find you on the other side of the coin, hehe ;)

Anyways, good to see you're enjoying MO so much. Who knows, maybe I'll give the trial a shot. It would however take a lot to pull me away from Darkfall. But, it won't hurt to try the game out.

The only thing I didn't like about Darkfall was the grind. Yeah I posted about it a lot, but I never trashed anything else about the game. In fact, there are many posts on the Darkfall forum where I encouraged people to try it and others where I defended it when I thought people were being unfair.

Believe me, if I find something about MO that bothers me as much as the grind did in Darkfall, I will post about it a lot here too. I just haven't found anything yet. image
