Think someone is padding their stats again.

Currently on first page Darkfall as most popular for today, week and month and World of Tanks as a top voted today. That actually wonder me a way more than Perpetuum. So you better not paying this ratings any attention.

Darkfall being on top is just for unique hits, its not people voting on rating. World of Tanks is (unfortunately) one of the better new online games out there so it deserves a good rating. Perpetuum was caught for padding hype rating stats before it was released and that was before the population completely died. Now that its empty somehow its rating has shot up. It makes me think they have people making new accounts again and rating the game the highest possible. Lets face it, this game doesnt deserve a 8.02.

I strongly disagree. Perpetuum is one of the best games released in years. It has small community of people who like it. If its not your cup of tea, then lets face it, just play something else and let us rate whatever games we like.

If the game is "one of the best games released in years" why does it

go troll elsewhere, the purpose of a rating system is so we, potential gamers can see if a game is found to be worthwhile or not by people who have played it. to say 'screw off, let us rate high and dont rate us low' is just.....beyond retarded.

Maybe I didn't read this the same way you did...

No troll here, just the opposite... Rate the game whatever you like, I think Orvy is trying to say we really enjoy PO, I also think its the best new game I've come across in years.  However, if you didn't like the game why come here to trash something we love? Isn't that more trollish than trying to defend it?

As for ratings and population, the game lost a lot of people in early growing pains mechanic revamps etc... things that worked in beta just didn't scale well like mineral availability and insurance, the changes were very disruptive to industrial characters. Since then the game has fine tuned and content has been added.  The devs are extrememly active.

Anywho, I think the ratings are being driven by a few things... New expansion doubled the world size (along with several major updates/changes that preceeded it)... New advertising where there was none before is generating interest and page hits... Finally new players coming in are getting a more polished experience and are able to jump right in to a well established community that willing to foster them and eager to recruit.

It was one of the smoothest releases that I've been a part of, the Devs were extremely responsive to player feedback and managed to impliment positive changes without game breaking and now, after a few months, that the game is really up and running on it's own two feet.  I think there is a lot to like... hence the higher rating (don't just look at rating, read the comments)

By smooth you mean the database rollback and giving out free game time as an apology...?

Well yea, actually... Open launch was 11/25, the glitch was found squashed and an apology was made within 24 hours... The players who cared enough to comment on the forums seemed to appreciate the responce and candor of the Dev team.

I was more generally refering to the first month though, I've been through enough launches with multiple rollbacks, server crashes, game breaking mechanics, broken terrain, broken quests.....  When Perpetuum launched... everything worked.

Even now after numerous patches and a major update things still work, and the glitches are squashed super fast.  The Dev team is on top of there game.

Yup, hype ratings on this site are a terrible way to judge a game.

While this game might be a good game, its certainly not hyped.

In fact, some of the highest rated games, are old games that are anything but hyped.

On top of that, curious "instant shots" to the top, on games whos forums activity on this site consist of nothing more than community updates, or no activity, leads me to believe that the hype ratings here are anything but normal user based.

I played this game for a few months, you really needed multiple accounts, which wasnt a huge deal given its like $10 a month for a sub.  Its a good game if you never got into eve, dont want to jump into a game that old where time is the bases of progression.. and adds terrian obsicals to the equation.

Very good game considering a few dudes in hungary slapped it together. One of the reasons i jumped in and supported it.

However, its plagued by a fairly snobby community, one that uses the "i dont like you chatting in chat, chat shouldnt be used for conversations im not interested in, your permanantly ignored" weapon.  It got old, and the community likes to seek out your (forgot what clans are called) leader and inform them that you are on ignore in hopes of getting you kicked out.  Its why chat, for the most part, was dead publicly, adding to the feeling that the game was generally dead...i mean there were people playing but the world was small at the time...the pvp island, was suppose to be a risky endevour, however towards the end of my time playing, my clan and i would all go there ready to ruble and mine, only wed stand there mining in saftey with several very bored combat robots for protection from an enemy that never came...just about every time.  When there was action, it was in noob disposible robots and rather dull and meaningless.

Does it deserve an 8.0+ rating...possibly...does it deserve an 8.0+ hype rating, putting in the ranks of severly hyped and populair games...not by any means.

Dont judge games by their hype ratings, they lost all meaning years ago.

Imo, the game has by far better pvp mechanics, than eve has. And I have played eve since 2004.

And I recon it deservers every vote it gets, by the rules, which have been stated.

    In conjunction to this:

    • The Dev´s are very responsive and very close to the community.

    • The Community is extremly active.

    • It is more stable than most games ever were

    • The pricing is only half of most MMO´s

    • The game is still very young and has yet much to deliver

I have never encountered any "snobish" behavior on chat or forum. Everyone is very helpful to get you a head start into the game. Also I do admit, that there is  one certain corp, which continuesly fails trolling on forum and chat, but they are easily ignored.

For me, and that may not go with everyones opinion, its the most refeshing release for the past couple of years. And I have tried many titles in that time.

I am sure I rated it very high. It launched fairly smooth, it was something different, omglaserspewpew, and the graphics, though not highly textured, were artistic.

But I'm not subbed, it is, like EVE, a too intensive game for me. If I was on disability, I'd probably play.
