Is the RvR and mechanics that the devs said they were going to implement in yet?

Got a link where they said they'd add RvR? Sounds epic.. :)

Im not resubbing and neither are 4 m8s that have been playing since launch/headstart.

Trion are throwing around so many incentives now to get new players in it is sad.

The GMs/support is terrible and they are draconian in enforcing rules to the point that there is literally no community.

You'll get some fun out of RIFT initially, but it is all too short lived, and at the rate that Trion are hurling incentives about, anything you work for will be undermined so quickly you'll regret putting so much effort in.

Knee jerk adding "features" is not a good sign.

I cancelled my account a few days ago.

I personally am resubbing tomorrow, the only reason I cancelled was because my college wouldn't open the ports required to play.

There were many, many requests and threads on it in early beta, and supposidly misleading hints by Trion during that time.  Then Hartsman actually went as far, later on, of making the mistake of stating that "We will add RvR if the players want it" in an interview.

There were reports and threads from a whole host of gaming sites pointing to the Rift Forums to show support.  The Rift community had responded en masse to Scott Hartsman’s statement that Trion will “add RvR if the players want it”, and at that time, In just a few days a topic on the official forums intended to show the public support for RvR-style gameplay in Rift amassed over 3000 replies and over 80,000 views.

    http://forums.riftgame.com/showthread.php?75055-quot-we-will-add-RVR-if-the-players-want-it-quot-...-well-let-them-know-here-that-we-want-it

But it didn't stop there.  After the mods "closed" that huge thread, more re-popped with continued support.  It went on for some time until the Trion silence on the issue became so deafening that its' one of the things that lead to my brakes on the game after hitting level cap and having the same shallow themepark game-play of grinding the same dungeon or same warfront over and over.

I'm thinking about re-subbing. The new game Brink is all messed up on ATI cards, so I've not much to do. I'll wait a week and see if they update/patch Brink. If not, I'll consider re-subbing, but I've already got capped toons and sort of don't want to start again.

I did quit playing after maxing out my char at level 50 and grinding expert dungeons one month. I really did get tired to play same content repeatively for some crappy looking armor pieces and I just don't get much satification to perfect my boss tactics.

IMHO - Rift should add more high level content - more dungeons, more quests, alternative armor pieces and weapons, other high level rewards (like housing) and - skills, souls and features that unlockable at high level through somekind quests. Also they should give warriors some good ranged dps soul (RIFT really hate melee dps).

I don't think that adding better and more meaningful RvR or PvP would make game any better. PvP and it's class balance is just root cause class specific nerfs in any MMO.

In the end - when your character hits max level you will eventually run out of content. And after that you stick with game only because of social reason - or you want to experience content throught another character - or maybe different side of story. There is no housing or empire building in RIFT - so that pretty much rules out social reasons. And playing with another character would be just mostly repeating same content again.

I'll consider it once endgame PvE is more than another dungeon/raid grind. Otherwise I'm fine with F2P games until something better comes along.

I've resubbed after I took a couple of weeks break when my first month ended (I was away on holiday) . The game is still very busy on the three servers I play on apart from the early mornings but thats to be expected . I'm enjoying myself but I dont expect longevity out of a game anymore these days . I think those type of mmos are pretty much a thing of the past now sadly . Playing WoW a few months ago I leveled a new character to max very quickly and then found it a repedative grind . RIFT at least I'm finding interesting and not facepalm easy to level . I mean its not hardcore with its quest tracker, fast leveling ,easy porting to dungeons and now the looking for a group tool but its still fun for the moment . How long I will stay I'm not too sure I'll just level three characters to 50 then play a little of the endgame and see how I feel about it then although I doubt it has what WoW vanilla and to a lesser extent TBC that kept me playing WoW continuously for three years . Most likly I will cancel in a few months when I get bored play something else then come back when some interesting new content is added to RIFT . Which is the same way I play many mmos these days . I've always got my LOTRO vip sub to fall back on and theres plenty of decent enough free to play games out there . I dont think many people stay long anywhere nowdays . We are all mmo nomads .

If I hadn't stupidly purchased the 6 month sub offer I'd be unsubbed right now. As it is I haven't logged in over a month.  Just not the style of game I'm looking for is all, not a bad game for those who enjoy the gameplay it offers.

    nope I won't be resubbing

Rift is just to short and way to small a game, it does not even feel like real online world at some zones it's so small, just like a stage of an online game.... and yes the game is way to themepark and needs more sandbox elements

good launch and nice enough game if you like online gaming/themepark  with lame endgame grind for rep/gear and nothing else

    Played: MCO - EQ/EQ2 - WoW - VG - WAR - AoC - LoTRO - DDO - GW/GW2 - Eve - Rift - FE - TSW - TSO - WS - ESO - AA - BD
    Playing: Sims 3 & 4, Diablo3 and PoE

hehe why on Earth did you buy a 6 month plan?

It wasnt like I and others wernt here warning that this game had no long term play in it, before launch even. :P

Probably because it was really cheap.

What i find funny about posts like these is that you knew very well what RIFT was or is going to be. A themepark MMO focused on end game grind for rep/gear. it wasn't a secret and was quite apparent from day one. And no it does not need more sandbox elements because that is not what devs were going for.

But anyways Trion thanks you for your 50 bucks.

hehe...and that was the 'perception'.  I origonally bought the 3-month, but cancelled it before the Launch Free Month was over, because on Amazon (I beleive it was Amazon), I saw the same exact price for a month or 2 sub code.  I took an extra month at the founders rate and called it a day after that.

Lesson is, as usual, never trust the hype and never buy a life-time, ever, for anything.  And be very weary about buying into anything more than a 3-month plan, especially if there isnt a way, as there was with Rift, to cancel that plan during a 'Free Month Launch Perk'.  But that's the rule I game by.

I'll be resubbing but that's because I've become a weekend warrior now that my seasonal job has picked up. I still haven't reached max on my main. I really like the game, but I can see how it's not for people who play hours and hours everyday.

I have resubbed. Will definately play this until SWTOR comes along at least. Depending on when that is exactly.

I resubbed, its easy going and I don't feel tied down to logging in every day yet I still enjoy myself when I do log in. People do hate on it and I can understand that in some respects but for me right now this works as a 'filler' mmo to keep me busy till the day swtor actually releases.
