Yeah sadly now that wish is gone I find myself not really sure what to do. Im downloading the ryzom free trial just to pass the time.

I have a wow account but that really really doesnt appeal to me right now maybe after they add the pvp battlegrounds ill go back that. Im watching upcoming games like dark and light mourning and face of mankind closely and trying to get into their betas. Hopefully theyll capture some of the same magic wish had but maybe not.

Im still awaiting the release of guildwars and ill be playing it but its definitly no wish thats for sure. Guild wars is a fun game but like somone said its the antithesis of wish however i found them both to be groundbreaking and innovative but one of them has died.

In desperation i tried out rose online the last couple of days what a stinker that was.

Hopefully ryzom has improved and it will hold me for a while other than that its desert combat final and gamecube.

Bring back wish or some sort of equivalent!

I dont know about dark and light.  the game sure is getting alot of media coverage, especially on this site, but there are two things that turned me away from Dnl...

    1. computer-generated world.  Sure its big, but look slike itll just be another SWG-type world with empty landscapes and randomly placed trees/bushes.

    2. player-level skill system with ability trees A la Wow/eq2/Ac2.  I find this particularly interesting since the game claism to be based on open pvp... and im sorry for all you Wow fans but player-levels dont do jack for pvp... a pvp battle with player levels usually goes like this

Say player 2 beats player 1

player 1: hey you beat me! how did you do it?

player 2: well, im level 25, you?

player 1: oh thats it then... im only level 22

Im looking for a game that doesnt stick with the predefined classes, and im stuck with either mourning or darkfall.  Mournings coming out soon and darkfall's devs are pretty absent (one post every 2 months) so mourning wins for now.

i loved wish, its a shame

Its not a computer generated world, its generated by actual satallite shots of earth (i dont know how it works, you can find links to the technology they use/developed somewhere on the DnL site. Which means water, mountains, trees, plains, deserts, etc. are generated realistically with actual refrences from Earth. As for it being emtpy, well i just dont know. Although they have some pretty interesting ideas to keep things interesting regardless of where or what youre doing, such as animals/monsters that migrate based on current activity in that area such as predators, settlesments, etc. Also there are nomadic NPCs who wander the land and start settlements randomly and where the AI determines is a suitable place. In turn with the realistic weather and seasons, nearly every aspect of the world is truly dynamic. Im sure if you wanted you could fiind something to do pretty easily.

As for the skill based/level based system, i for one havent read up on that feature enough to really comment on it, but I think they are taking measures to counter the previous 'higher level wins' scenario.
