There are PVP and non-PVP servers.
On PVP servers, to fight someone of your same faction, you can request a duel. If they accept, you can fight to within a inch of your life. You don't lose anything.
You can attack anyone of the opposing faction. You don't have the option of a friendly duel. If you die, you don't lose your loot, but depending on how you revive you lose a little or a lot of durability of your items. Currently no loss/gain of experience or status.
I think on non-PVP server, you don't have the option of attacking opposing faction.
There is no PvP in WoW. WoW doesent exsist its just a scam created by the media, and were all just paid lobbyists hyping a products that doesent exsist.

But i bet if i wrote a song about my bitches sippin on my 40 and how i like to grind them then beat'm i'd be your hero and you'd give me your money?

In the normail server(not pvp) you can go 2 some sones where you can kill the opposing faction.

well i am on a pve server and the only place i lag is at IF. I doubt it is a pvp server or pve that is making the difference. I am betting it is just how populated the server is.

You can ask someone to duel you or you can go to Alliance VS Horade zone.
You should be able to find some info here

It explains the normal server and the PvP server, and how the PvP is handled.

Thanks for the info...
So...the PVP in WOW looks kind of like PVP in SWG?
Also, I've heard there are server downtime and lag issues currently. Is this true?
Has anyone heard when this will be addressed?
Definite lag issues in the heavily populated area of IronForge. That's where a lot of trading, training and crafting goes on.
I have taken part in one mini-raid (about 20 people on each side) where I noticed lag that affected play.
There have been unexpected server downtimes, but not so much that I would complain about it.
