Talking... I mean actual talking, in Reclamation

I had a cool idea that probably isn't feasible but you never know. What if people could actually talk in Reclamation with a microphone? Granted this might pose a problem or 10 and it would probably eat up a good amount of bandwidth it does sound kind of cool.

I have to say I am really against actual talking in Reclamation. I believe it would hinder the Roleplaying elements of the game. Here are some examples. ((You have just joined one of the grand houses of the dream and you finally step up to meet the Ruler of the house. Suddenly your suprised by a 11 year old saying, "Hi welcome to our guild")) This wouldn't be as bad as if it was in text because you wouldn't be able to tell how old they are as long as they act and roleplay like a Ruler. Here is another example. ((You have been secretly admiring a very pretty women and have decide to ask her to date you. You walk up to her and ask her if she wants to go out some time. "I'd love to" She replies in a gruffy manly voice.)) Again this would take away from the roleplaying element once more. There are males that like to play females in games and there are females that like to play males in games. Anyways this is why I disagree with putting in actual talking in Reclamation. There was also a lot of talk about this on the Stratics forums. Anyone else agree, disagree?

Well it would be pretty easy to put in a filter to change voices to sound like just about anything. This idea probably won't be put in just to save bandwidth coupled with the fact that a lot of people aren't very articulate. Still, I thought I'd put it out there.

I agree that it would be pretty odd if your character likes a girl and you walk up to her and she speaks in a manly tone.  If you could put a filter on voices to make them sound a bit different, it might not be so bad, but there are still some problems for those people who have trouble typing english.  They might not be able to speak it very well, as in UL we can see people who have difficulty with it.

All in all, it would be interesting to see it in Rec, but, there are so many 'but's about it that it might cause more trouble.  Good Idea though, NightHawk

Yeah, the more I think about it the less feasible that sort of thing seems to be in an MMO. Imagine a room full of 50 people all talking at once, that would be very hard to hear and it would probably crash the servers.
