Considering the fact that they're having CBT before the end of the year, and they're right on track, I'm assuming OBT (which I am most definitely taking part in!) by around February/March and a release right after that. If not right after then a month or 2 after.
As I remember, I interperted the financial report before this one as saying something like: the game should be done this year but the launch (the income from the launch) will mostly be in 2012. That made me think that they are signaling a launch in maybe feb. Then i would add a few months to that for unexpected things which seem to happen every game. So my speculation have been a launch before july 2012. But ofcourse this is all guesstimations.

My guess is that they release the last of the info and the final book at GamesCon in August, a year after the first demo. Then start up the beta in september.
Then launch somewhere between Nov- apr depending on how well the beta goes.
I don't think the launch is longer than a year away, Anet might have a lot of trust in the game but their owner can't keep it unlaunched forever, it cost a lot of money without getting in any new.
Having patience and wait until a game is done is a good idea but there are limits too how long you can wait no matter how good budget you have.

Sounds like the design is mostly finished and is just being tweaked and implemented.
GW2 is going to be at Comicon and there is going to be "big news" at both Gamescon and Pax Prime. PvP could be shown at either of those.

We have no idea how far in development the underwater combat is. We do know that we will be using underwater specific weapons and that there are 2 weapon slots for those weapons. Skills also will work differently underwater than above.

Thing is, none of those items will actually take long to reveal; the rate of release is only based on when ANet has finished polishing them and marketing gives them the OK. But each of the remaining race reveals only take a week each, and we know from a recent Daniel Dociu interview that the Sylvari release would be within a few months (and that was about a month ago).
Each of the profession reveals have been approximately 6 weeks apart, save the period in which ANet went dark after PAX Prime last year (ANet has declared there isn't a pattern, but it is what it is), so even if they took longer, it's not at all unlikely that the final two races and the mesmer will have been revealed by Gamescom/PAX Prime.
At any rate, December 2011 itself isn't anytime soon from this point, so /shrug.

I call bs on that. I saw your massively comment about where they said "probably 2012". What they meant is it's more likely to release in 2012 instead of '11 not 2012 at the earliest.

Exactly. It's that 2011 is uncertain, not that 2012 is. It will DEFINITELY be out in 2012, MAY be releasing in 2012 instead of 2011.

Release of the books has nothing to do with release of the game. If the game is done, it's getting released whether the book is done or not.
