reviews site suck. reason is they never played it for 6 months before they review. They played for less than a month then they review. They dunno there is nothing much to do in that mmorpg after a certain numbers of month.
A very good example is Star war galaxies. It scored high in most review site. But those who played more than 6 months knew that it sucks.

Ok, and a review site is supposed to remain competitive how if they have to play for 6 months before they can write a review on it? No one has to read the reviews if they feel review sites labors are worthless. No one even has to listen to what they read. Now your blaming a review site for people just beleiving whatever they read? I think people are abit smarter then that and come to their own conclusions from what they read, they don't just see the words and blindly follow them. I use reviews occasionally and I infer what I need from them for the most part. Often a very negative review is what will drive me to try the game.
Seriously though, saying review sites ruin an MMORPG is like saying movie critics ruin a movie to me.

Whats new about WoW? Someone please answer me that, aside from the graphics. What is there to do in WoW that I haven't already done thousands of times in other mmorpgs?
In UO I had PVP, I had smithing, tailoring, fishing, mining, alchemy, you name it all of the WoW professions plus many more.
In EQ I leveled up, formed guilds PVPed (on PVP server), hunted endless mobs and collected uber items. I did many quests, some better than others.
So for someone like me, who has done all of this before, why would I be interested in WoW? What does it offer thats new?

i guess after someone has done something so many times , its hard to impress him with anything ...
but it guess WoW has so many subscribers because they used a good advertising strategy ,a nd besides its set in the World of wracraft universum , which had a lot of fans even before the mmorpg...
so...
as far as reviews go , i've always found em very utile , as long as you do understand that their words are not gods words an mans ear
those are simple opinions ..

What WoW has that no other MMORPG out there currently has is both refined gameplay catered to "regular people" (aka the normal everyday guy aka the casual gamer) as well as having engrossing, fun gameplay. WoW takes all of the good aspects from every MMORPG out there and blends em together in a way that is almost flawless (PvP atm is lacking, but once battlegrounds comes around it should be good). All technical aspects aside, WoW is basically a kind of MMORPG that me and hundreds of thousands of others have been waiting for.
WOW is a game that ppl with a job and a real life can play and get satisfaction out of. When i was 17 and could skip school to play 8 hours a day I would have said it was too easy and boring but now that I have to work 40 hours a week like the other 100's of millions of ppl around the world do, this game fits perfectly into my life. WoW may not be for for everyone but its still perfect for alot of ppl and theres no other game out there like that.
Yes WoW is a good game...and it will prosper because of all the Blizzard fans. I will give it to you, Blizzard is good when it comes to knowing how to treat a player base.
That said...anyone who thinks this game will be able to sustain the player base it has and will have once the Europe release goes gold is somewhat optomistic.
The game brings a new flavor to the genre in it's cartoonish art, it's catering to the casual player etc...but once you take all that away it is no different than the games that have flooded the market the past 4 years.
In my opinion, and this is just that, an opinion, unless Blizzard plans some major expansion packs in the near future, the subscriber base will drop off. Just like history has shown us with every game to date.
It is not innovative in any way shape or form other than the graphics. It is still a level based game that has pointless PvP, a somewhat generic item data base, the same classes the same level grind. Sorry to sound so negative, but I played the beta, played the release and eventually realized...what is the point? What happens after I am lvl 60, what then? There is no housing, the guild system is weak, no meaningful PvP (yet I know they are working on it, and have been for almost a year now).
Again...my opinion..and my opinions have been noted to be one sided
Very vaild opinions and i agree Expansions will be needed(but i'm sure thats not news to them and I think every Blizzard game has had expansions so i'm sure this one will have plenty).
But what is a common denominator in all the games that have come out in the past 4 years. They are very hard for ppl with less then 20 hrs a week to play. I've only maxed out one character since I started playing MMORPG's in 1998 and that was in 1999 on Meridian 59 before they closted down and I've played 9 since then. Some only a week most for over a year, I dont know about anyone else but I'm sure there are ppl who have been playing MMORPG's for along time but have never experienced high level content.
Maaaybe WoW isnt for most already established MMORPG players but even tho its nothing new its still something some of us have been waiting along time for. Also if it brings in 100's of 1000's of new players into the MMORPG genre I give Blizzard a , I remember a year ago ppl were spouting that the MMORPG genre was dying.
A person who has less then 20hrs a week to put into an MMORPG is gonna pick up games like FFXI, EQ1&2 and L2 and burn them a month later(*Looks over at his charred Lineage 2 and EQ2 boxes*). If they were to pick up WoW those 20hrs a week are actually gonna accomplish something.

WoW is just too sick of a game. It just keeps getting better too.
