    Well, we know that this month's big reveal is the next profession and since we are already pretty much sure that it's going to be the Mesmer they might as well release it sooner rather than later :p

    As we all know, tomorrow the next profession will be announced and there’s been a lot of debate and discussion as to what it will be.     I was pretty drsutrated becuase I only had 30 mins but I ran to 45. I really needed more time becuase they dropped the next profession bombshell right at the start of the interview. Obviously if I had more time I would have asked questions about the next profession for Thursday's reveal.     MESMER!!!!!

    I got my two other favourite characters, ele and necro, just need my mesmer and I will be a happy panda! And ArenaNet, DONT even THINK of renaming the class!!!! If it ain't called mesmer, it ain't mesmer. Don't give us the guardian (monk > guardian) treatment please!!!!

    I hope so much they'll bring mesmer but in the same time I know if they do it will be a lot changed guy becuase mesmer from GW 1 cant work in usual open world MMOs without henches. So I'm realy looking forward to recreation of mesmer to open world (if its realy mesmer coming).

    It was both but lore-wise it's an evolution of the paragon (source):

    From a functionality standpoint, I think we started with something that was less magical feeling; at one point we were calling the Guardian a "Knight." As the rest of our professions began taking shape around the Guardian, she started becoming more magical, and we brought in some elements from the protection Monk and Paragon from the first game.

    I've seen the Guardian compared to the prot Monk, the Paragon, the Dervish, and the Ritualist, and there are bits and pieces of all of them in there, plus a lot of new stuff.

    With the turmoil in Elona and the spread of the Order of Whispers into other lands, more Paragon teaching showed elsewhere in Tyria. These teachings melded with other traditions, and over time, the Guardians and their abilities can be found throughout the world and among all the races.

    While I was never a huge fan of the mesmer I always appreciated the mechanics of it. I am interested in how the mesmer translates from GW1 to GW2. I can see this class as a last reveal for multple reasons. In GW1 the mesmer abilities were meant to disrupt, lockdown, and pretty much frustrate the opposing classes on the other team. So the other classes should be in there finished state first. Also the mechanics have changed alot for GW2 so mesmer will play differently but still needs to be familiar enough that people recognize it as the mesmer.
