Ironically, D3 seems like one of the few things Blizzard will have done in the last many years that has some substantial innovations in it.
Such as?
(Not trolling, genuinely curious, but not enough to look it up on my own, I gave up on Blizzard years ago.)
"Gamers will no longer buy the argument that every MMO requires a subscription fee to offset server and bandwidth costs. It's not true you know it, and they know it." Jeff Strain, co-founder of ArenaNet, 2007
I would rather see them delay the game as long as it takes to make it a polished product , then releasing it unfinished. You have to acknowledge, that allot of players who play MMOs aren't hardcore players. if you release a game in a unfinished state, these players are going to quit the game and wont come back latter after you had improved/polished the game, because they had a bad experience when they first played it.
Played: SWG-FFXI-EQ2-Aion
Anticipated in order of Hype: ArcheAge GW2 TERA SWTOR
Not enough info, but looks promising: Blade & Soul
We will be conducting small closed alpha and beta tests in 2011.
The feedback from these tests will determine when we will do public beta tests and ship the game. Guild Wars 2 is a very large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have very high expectations. We want players to be absolutely blown away by the game the first time they experience it.
Would you rather this game be released in the condition that mmo's like AoC , Warhammer and DCUO?
I wouldn't , they should release it when it's ready, in the meantime you can go play other mmo's or look for information regarding some other unreleased mmo's like SWTOR, TERA and TSW.
i think GW2 only comes out in 1 year (i.e.-almost sure about that), and for now the only polished game out to play its aion , i think i will reactivate the game after 9 months away, the last patch makes the game seem wonderfull, see you in 1 year
Another interesting point would be that too much hype may hurt your first experience with a game. You could become so excited with the release that your expectations sky rocket past anything reasonable for the game.
Classic "Great Gatsby" example.
Waiting may turn out to be a positive thing for players

WTF? No subscription fee?

ANET never commited to a public beta this year - only a closed beta

When will there be a beta?
