I've been playing RIFT for a couple of months now and although I enjoy it and recognise it as one of the better mmos to be released in a long time I think it suffers from the the same problems as most mmos these days . Leveling is far too quick , easy porting to instances and warfronts ( battlegrounds ) killing the need for questing and serverly limiting world pvp . Sadly this does seam to be the way mmos are going and while its fine to be casual it also means you dont feel like subscribing for months on end . I can see myself playing RIFT for a couple of months a year maybe . The facts are I can get pretty much the same enjoyment out of most of the free to play games out there on a casual basis given there seam to be no really immersive mmos left of this type(fantasy) . I don't have any problems with an mmo being a WoW clone but I would rather it be a vanilla WoW clone and not a clone of the tired boring game WoW is now but having said that I still see RIFT as superior and proberbly the only mmo at present for thats worth subscribing to albeit on an intermitent basis . I do look forward to the day when something comes along that really catches my interest enought to stay with it for a longer period but I think given the way the genre is going thats unlikly to happen for some years yet .
