So what little hype Dust 514 had about two-thirds of it was Xbox 360 players. They are now gone as customers.
Bulk of those custumers are EVE players that has a xbox 360..
I have no idea what you are getting at, but the largest FPS population on any platform are Xbox 360 players AND the most hype for Dust 514 was coming from Xbox 360 gamers. What little hype the game had.

Hype for dust on 360 fan sites was almost nonexistent and the ones who had some sort of interest are EVE players.

I've been visiting the Dust 514 fansites for a year and a half. Easily two-thirds of the active posters were Xbox 360 gamers. Go to the Facebook page today and see who is posting. For every PS3 gamer who is happy several Xbox 360 gamers aren't. The vast majority of the followers on the official Facebook page were Xbox 360 players.
So what little hype the game has had for a year and half was mainly due to Xbox 360 players. The vast majority of them are gone now. CCP just royally screwed up.
The best thing they could do is allow those who purchase DUST 514 to install and play EVE on their PS3 and swap between the two games at will as they please. There is no reason the PS3 couldn't handle playing EVE since even most of the combat is simple enough as it is. Either way as a person that owns both consoles I'll be checking it out for sure. For those who don't have both consoles my question to you is this. Why not? They are not expensive anymore... god forbid you don't buy the 4 games it would cost you in money to buy a PS3 and / or Xbox 360.
So yeah, common Sony and CCP. Get EVE playable on the PS3 and hell I bet you could even get it working with the Move!

2/3rds console gamers that aren't wiitards are on the xbox, so that would be why. But seriously who cares? The 100 people who don't have a ps3, refuse to get one, yet were interested in DUST will miss out, oh well.

The largest online FPS gaming population in the world was just excluded. That's tens of millions not 100.
I was often regretting it, thinking I should have went with the ecksbawx. But after what I saw at MSFT's keynote and this announcement. I am LOL'ing IRL. Thaaaaaks sony!
Game is DOA now. The huge appeal of this game was it was PS3 + Xbox 360 interacting with PC. Now CCP just left out the biggest FPS market.
Did any of you consider that this is not something CCP wanted, or Sony even cared about? Maybe MS didn't approve, or wanted special compensation for it being on Live. Hasn't this been a problem with mmo's on xbox before?

Why has CCP been promoting cross-console play for 2+ years then if that's not what they wanted. What happened was $$$ and Sony flashed it.

Well the interest just went from thousands to hundreds. And, again, the online FPS market on the Xbox 360 is significantly larger than the PS3 online FPS market.

Rofl, sony never does that or MS wouldn't have paid for all the exclusives during ps3's first two years of release. Champions online was also going to come to the xbox, along with STO, but MS seems to string mmo's along and then apparently do something that makes the whole project unfeasible.
Really, look it up, there's numerous mmo's that were slated to come to xbox that always fell through a year after PC's release.

I'm almost 100 percent sure this is an issue caused by MS being very anal about the deals they make for games that go through their servers. Long end of it is that anything played on the Xbox goes through Microsoft servers and CPP likely couldn't allow that due to the fact the game needs to tie into EVE on a level using Microsoft tools won't allow.
I guess negotiations just failed and CPP said "fuck it" finally.

I honestly don't know much about DUST, but I doubt the average drooling FPS'er would have much interest in anything resembling or interacting with an MMO. They lack the higher brain functions (maybe why they bought an xbox).

Actually MS dropped Marvel Online when they lost the license and didn't want anything to do with Champions. And there are what two PS3 MMOs and two Xbox 360 MMOs. Neither console has a very good record in regards to MMOs.
I am a Capsuleer- I don't care what tech it is on. In game I just want you to blow it up and make me my isk. Today CCP may be your villian but tomorrow they will be your hero. And within every trendy moment we kick the plasma cannon on the console chatter you had better understand one thing. What's done is done. I am up for a crew of soil eating worm fighters to make some money with. So get your blue ray player tech on. I am in.

CCP isn't run by the sharpest tools in the shed. My hype rating just went from 10 to maybe 5.
I am thinking the issue is more Microsoft than CCP, we have seen this time and time again when it comes MMOs. The issue always comes down to the network and pricing structure, so much so it's even caused MS grief. The issue is not as big of a problem on the Sony side of things, simply put if Microsoft wants to see more MMOs they need to start making some changes or we will see this story continue to repeat in the future.
On topic, good to know and I have been considering purchasing a PS3 so I'll just add this to my list of pluses.
Self quote I know but this has been confirmed by CCP.
The Question from Pharon: So.... why did you do it ? why PS3 only ?
The Answer from CCP Fallout: "Two reasons: we found the PS3 to be MMO-friendly, but from a game design perspective there's a whole lot of very wonderful things the console brings to the table. While we can't entirely discuss this at this particular time, we'll be speaking more about it during the week during the myriad interviews we are conducting this week at E3."

FFXI is a last gen mmo, so hopefully you aren't counting that one, I can't think of any other mmo on xbox360.
Why would anyone play a generic fps which has one or two features that stands out such as interacting with people you will never meet?
Wtf is wrong with CCP?
Its funny this. You dont get it. You really dont get it. CCP dont CARE what people who play EVE think about Dust514. You are not the target audience.
Eve players are 25-40 year old PC owners, and not thier target. They want to reach the 15-25 your old console segment, many of which dont know anything about EvE.
As for exclusive thing: WHat they are trying to do is extremely difficult at best. By limiting themself to one platform they will have less technical issues to fight in the hard first year of this. Most exculsive deals run out eventually, and by that time, if they think the game still holds potential, we will most likely see see a 360 and/or PC version.
There is nothing wrong with CCP. They are choosing a wise clear strategy. By partnering with Sony in the start phase the will get extra exposure as a poster child for how to do true PS3 games including all teh bells and whistles. That will get them into the view of all the players they want to reach but are not currently aware of DUST514.
Don't underestimate CCP. They are actually VERY smart people.
Doubt you will see it on 360 most mmog that even consider console ports won't deal with MS because MS wants them to force ppl to have a gold account to play them.

DUST is free to play.. so they will need a healthy population to pay the bills.

Bad choice going Ps3 for lots of reasons and for 1 it will most likely be running at 720p resolution and 2nd it will be 30fps,
3rd it will be running at low to medium graphic settings, Well look at DC universe on ps3 it totaly sucks and is awful to play compaired to pc.
360 i can see working though becouse it will use 1080p and run at 60fps.
