Yes .... enjoy then walk after you realise the game is pants.

Questing is prob stuill the fastest way to level... anything you get pre level 40 is just trash to heklp you level .. so dont cream your knickers over sub level 40 gear.

Questing is how you'll get most if not all of the gear you need.

Dont bother crafting it is a time sink and a joke

There are tons of RIft guides you can find in any search engine.  (maybe start with Riftwatchers.com)  As far as a lot of the negative feedback,  i'd just ignore it.  Rift is a good game in its genre, and is still new.  I think it's a little too easy, and yes the crafting needs major improvement in both depth and incentive but there are more good points than bad.  Start out playing what you like and then experiment with all the souls you collect for a build.  The souls are the best part of the game in my opinion, although they have made it too easy to acquire the souls for each class.  The leveling does go by quick, but no different than what has become mainstream.  More than one leveling path is a big gripe, but hopefully that will change with first expansion.  If all you do is play mmorpgs every day, the game will of course grow stale and you might run out of new things to do.  But if you play steadily, you will continue to have a nice experience i think.

Is there any specific information you want out of the guides? There's plenty of helpful threads here and on the Rift forums, but if you could narrow it down a bit more, you could be pointed to the exact information you're looking for. =)

As for people who constantly bash Rift. It's a very solid game. It's not new or innovative by any stretch of the imagination, but for the genre it's in, it excels.

If you have any questions you can ask me.  I've done everything in the game at least 2 times on each faction, most things I've done alot hehe.  I got 6 characters, with all 4 archetypes at level 50.  That's really the only reason I might cancel my sub before october when it renews.  They might come out with something new,  they're pretty good at getting out content fast.

As for all the negativity surrounding the game.  I just got to say, if the game wasn't good then people wouldn't have made it to level 50.  It'd be like WoW for me, you'd get to 30 and quit or make another character, but would eventually lead you to quitting without getting to 50...so just ignore the negative people.

There are lots of helpful guilds for the new rift players.  Riftbuilds.com will help you come up with different builds for your toon. Some independent people created a Rift pod cast which is pretty awesome.

Here are some tips for the new player if you are interested:

If you want to craft, although not as mature yet as say World of Warcraft or Ultima online, the ingredients are pretty obtainable to get. With the tokens from the crafting dailies you can buy new recipes. This works well with alchemy so you can make special dyes for your armor.

There are daily quests to build up rep with factions. The Pvp is pretty fun mostly because there are more mature players in the battle grounds. Right now the degrading chat in the towns and battle grounds of calling people names and making fun of them is for the most part non existent.  Although I am sure that will change since the population seems to be growing. My server for example fluctuates from med to high and the towns seem to be full of other players and not all gold seller either. Mind you I am only going by what I am seeing on my server.

To level you can quest, you can PvP or chase rifts or any combination of the three.

If you decide to become a healer and you get into an instance, ask that the party be put into a raid so you will be able to heal better. Having everyone's health bars close to one another really helps.

Btw don't listen to the negative people. If you like the game fine and if not that's fine too. This should not be like WOW where you are made to feel  pressured to stay, hanging on for the next expansion with the hope things get better.
