Hey all, thanks for any help...I have Asheron's Call 1 and have not played in 2-3 years. I was wondering if I can get a subscription thru Turbine for AC or do I have to go buy AC2 in order to play? Is AC (ONE) still active or do I need to go buy AC2? I'm kind of confused with Dark Majesty and everything else. I quit because I wasn't an aggressive player and everything seemed to get tougher, but lately I have this....itch...remembering how great and near real the world was back then. I kinda miss it. Thanks for advice!

AC: Dark Majesty is still alive and well. You can buy a copy at Turbine's store and download it right off their site for 10 bucks. It includes a free month of play. Get your copy here.

I would stay away from AC2. It's not a bad game, but not as good as AC1.
EDIT:
If you still have a copy, install it, and try to play. You don't go through the Zone anymore, so it will probably redirect you to a part of Turbine's site where you can sign up. If you need help, check out the official AC: Dark Majesty message boards here.

Thanks Falconoffury, I only have AC #1, not Dark Majesty or anyting. If I subscribe to Turbine, can I still play AC #1? I'm a little confused. IT's been so long! Sheesh, what was I thinking???
They unlocked the Dark Majesty content for everyone who only had regular AC1. So you do actually have Dark Majesty.
If I were you I would install the game, hit the play button, and see what happens. Try to follow the instructions and see if you can get an account all setup. Ask for help on the official message boards if you get stuck.
Hey again, sorry, but I gave turbine my cc # TWICE and put in the CD and trying to play but it keeps saying I don't have an account. I've given them my life history. Just wondering why I can't play AC??? This is so frustrating. I get to the download page...little square with people sitting around, "downloading"...and the bubble that says "play" but that's where it says I don't have an account. I swear I DO, probably TWO accounts...what shoudl I do?

I bet your account is so old that the system just thinks you don't have an account. Here is the customer support website.

You might have to email turbine directly about your problem. I think they also have a phone number if necessary.
if you had AC thru the zone and .netpassport system, you may have to contact zone to reclaim your "zone name" associated with your account.

AC doesn't use the Zone anymore. Everything goes directly through Turbine. Turbine has all of the billing information for everyone now. The support website I posted before should take care of things.
Actually I have not yet migrated, Turbine already stated numerous times if you do not migrate we do not have the information.
Therefore, I still use the zone. Migration has not even completed. Infact, the recent down time the other night was because the new Turbine billing server was booting off those that were migrated to Turbines login. Hence the worlds came down twice after the monthly prop was done. (Yes these were valid, up to date paid accounts being booted)
Infact, since those issues from other night, players who did not migrate yet are asking where the prompt to migrate is, since it is no longer showing up.
So, the zone is still currently involved with the log in process.
So, he may have a better shot at reclaiming his old log in zone name, having that zone name tied to a new net passport and then logging in to AC as he did in the past.
Until the migration to Turbine billing is complete, zone is still a viable option.

Edite: Turbine also has stated that they have NO current way to migrate the inactive accounts.

Migration from the Zone is progressing, but not complete. I don't know all the details, but I do know that. I just got the option to migrate my account last week, which I did.
Last I saw on the Turbine site said migration is still ongoing. Migration isn't automatic, each account has to be migrated by the user.
New accounts HAVE to be made through Turbine, as Zone doesn't support it anymore.

Depending on the level of your character, it might be just as easy to start over anyway.
But then again, I guess it might be worth the effort if you can find some good stuff on an account you had already.
I'm hoping that PatyofDereth's silence means that she has resolved her problems and is having a blast in Dereth.
