    Exactly.

I don't care how many x million units it sells or about the sandbox vs themepark debate- BW has sold me on this game already.

If the direction BW has taken with this game isn't one you like, no one is forcing you to buy the game.

MMO players -  Its something new and massive.

Star Wars Fans - Self explanitory

    Bioware fans - self explanitory

SP game fans - With 8 x games 3 x as large as KOTOR for £35 and a £10 a month fee (speculation) then even SP game players will be drawn to it as it offers mass replayability and a good 6month to a year of content that can be played with a mate or 2 in a semi co-op mode.

Those that havent gamed before - It has great scaleability and the EA marketing machine behind it with a budget like that not ever seen in gaming before for marketing I can safeley assume near launch you wont be able to look anywhere without TO being in your face.

There are several reasons why people who prefer SP games stay clear of MMORPGs:

    1. The "wonderful" community.

    2. Lower overall quality in comparison to SP games.

    3. Monthly fees.

I do not know wether 1 will the case in SW:ToR. 2 is the case in practically every MMORPG ever made. 3 doesn't need an explanation.

Its funny...you know this guy is going to be playing TOR once it comes out. Anyone that likes Guild Wars will be after they realize they just wasted $60 bucks on another crap game. So of course they are going to come running back to dad(TOR) to help them become stronger so they can beat up those bullies (crappy games), and realize that when a bullie beats you down and take your lunch money to get back up and fight for it back (talking about shitty games stealing money from innocent kids who talk so highly about those crappy games). Love adding stupid inuendos.

TOR is far too conventional. I know three people who dislike MMOs because of the standards they have; gear grinds, subscriptions, trinity, the MMO combat. TOR has all those. Story isn't enough, because it doesn't have anything to do with the gameplay itself. A lot of people view story as something extra. Especially in an MMO where the focus is with the online aspect.

That's an interesting perspective because I myself aren't much of an MMO player. I've played SWG,WOW and STO. Warhammer if you want to count one week of short play. That's it. The only one that had me for at least 6 months was SWG and that was only because it was Star Wars. Yet this game interests me because of the fact that it is bringing something new besides the tired old level grind, which is a topic that not enough people here talk about. The level grind is precisely why I and many others don't last long in MMOs. They are just so painfully boring.

Also, when you say Bioware fans, do you realize this includes Bioware fans who never touched an MMO before? Sort of the way Blizzard brought all their fans who weren't MMO players.

I think GW2 will be the game to pull in the MMO haters, though. It's non-conventional in a lot of ways. And two of those people are actually looking forward to it for that reason. I imagine some other people are the same. TOR will draw in the WoW/Star Wars/Bioware crowd. Which is absolutely massive. But it certainly won't draw in people who normally dislike MMOs.

I think that's why both games will be a massive success.

I'm not so sure about GW2. The only time I hear about that game is on this site. I have no interest in playing it no matter how many times their fans come to this forum to pump it up.No one I know remembers Guild Wars or that it even existed. However everyone I know DOES remember KOTOR and can't wait to play this game. No, that doesn't represent the whole gaming population, but it's a story that I'm reading in a lot in other places. Bioware is a very well respected company and people are going to give them the benefit of the doubt. This isn't a case like SOE where a company sold Lucasarts a bill of goods and got in over their heads without understanding what made Star Wars popular to begin with. This is a company that has already made a Star Wars game which was voted the best game of the year and is going to expand it even bigger to the MMO market. But I will agree that this is NOT for the fans of the old boring level grinders or MMo Vets looking for a game that tries to re-invent the entire MMO wheel and hate anything that even resembles their great enemy World of Warcraft.

(raises his wine glass in support) lol

         I'll buy the first round!

Cheers! But do you serve any non-grape based alcoholic beverages? Those give me a rash on my eye balls.

On topic: I agree with those who say it won't be so much pulling in the haters but everyone who appreciates a vast amount of rich content in their mmorpgs. At least that is a characteristic in which many of the recent releases have disapointed (and subsequently lost a lot of subs to). It SEEMS Swtor is quite well endowed in the content department but we'll have to play it for a few months to be sure of that of course.
