Gosh, that was actually really good. Trion is moving content in at a cracking pace! Well PvE content anyhoo.

    Go Rift!

awesome!  looking forward to it,  thanks for sharing.

Designing these World Events is a waste of time that could be better spent fixing the rather glaring issues that presently effect the game as a whole.

I`m not excited at all. Every single one of these World Events has been very similar in design to WARs World Events. Thanks Adam Gershowitz, for dragging your lackluster concepts and failed ideas into yet another game that has potential to succeed, but is being ruined by specific members of the development team who should have never been hired to begin with.

When your resume consists of failed projects, that folks is called a red flag.

This is probably one of the most original things about Rift, so I suspect they will continue it.

Currently Watching: TSW. << Very Eager for a Beta invite. Have experience with Beta Testing.
Not personally a big fan of raiding or current pve endgame mmo philosophy. Nothing wrong with it, I just sort of burnt out on it.
Hardcore raider in wow from Launch to.. about 7 months ago.
    Currently Playing: Champions Online.

Trion has been the biggest surprise for me this year...they came from nowhere....they delivered an amazing game called RIFT as good or even better than any other MMO rolling for over years....and they bring amazing content patches every month....

They have earned my respect for their amazing work....

They listen to the community and they deliver as fast as i´ve never seen before....

    +1 for Trion.

Keep up that amazing work guys! :)

except that even if you look past the world event, there is still a huge raid being released with this content patch. WoW took 7 months to release 7 bosses and some daily quests with Firelands, look what Rift has accomplished in only 3.

I'm pretty sure that the team that works to resolve bugs is not the same as the team that creates the new content.

    But I could be wrong...

I'm all for new content, but another raid? Really? How many people would you think is even done with GSB. There's one guild on my server who has greenscale down. World events are great, keep em coming. But we really need more zones. More high lvl content other than raids, world events not withstanding. But the pace of the content certainly bodes well for rift.

RIFT already has world event, whats this makes it more special ?

The patch has a new raid, a new world event concerning the water plane and guildplayer trasnfers. If I'm missing anything holla.

Meh no thanks, easy PvE content and next to no PvP is the reason I left in the first place. Perhaps once they add in more PvP content I will take another look, although I think by that time I will hopefully be in TSW, SWTOR or GW2.

Best to Trion though, glad to see the updates are still coming.

Biggest addition to many this patch will be guild banks.

Same complaint here.  Going from say, Dark Age of Camelot, to a game like Rift and seeing them actually advertise, "We aren't in Azeroth," is just plain propaganda and a let down.  When I saw instanced battlegrounds I dealt with it thinking that was filler and that they would announce something like Dark Age or Age of Conan - some kind of territory conquest, castle taking, etc like in real warfare in a world ruled by the sword.  But instead they are so involved in their pve that like other titles, pvp is yet again just an afterthought.

Azeroth is obviously and painfully in the hearts and minds of the developers and my guess is that is just corporate sponsorship speaking.  I think it's a real shame that mmorpgs were more Dungeons and Dragons meets sandbox with EQ and Asheron's call and such - and has turned into this prefabricated genre where race and class are so cosmetic that there are very few differences in anything - and between cultures/factions everything as well is just vanilla same.

Still waiting for an mmorpg that takes the hopes of intelligent adults into their marketing strategy.  We want more than capture the flag/tooth and a 15 minute timer that is affected by same size cosmetically different teams.  We read books like Lord of the Rings, Shadowmarch, A Game of Thrones, etc., we know there are such things as different cultures and massive territories to be conquered.  Same the playground games and give us depth - housing - RP value - content - epic warfare between multiple realms.

I have a feeling - and mind you, it is just a feeling - that Trion might have figured out that the stayers in Rfit, i.e. the faithful playerbase that is sticking around, aren't the PvPers. They are the ones that enjoy the twist on PvE that Rift has, and maybe dabble in PvP every now and again.

The feeling is purely based on Rift having a similar "vibe" to LOTRO where PvP is a very small part of the game (due to lore reasons).

WHAT? There adding guild banks? OMG How long did it take WoW to add those? 3 YEARS? I can't wait to see this game this time next year! i might not even want to play SWTOR or GW2 by then if they even release a year from now.

Well I will buy GW2. buy the box...play forever? Hell Yeah!

Hell I bought GW1 and havent played it since the 3rd month but Hey ... If i ever get really bored I still can play it, right?

While Trion seriously lacks any sort of vision or individuality they certainly do not lack work ethic.

I think of Trion as a company positively and I am looking foward to see if any of there newer titles show even a trace of originality.

    Playing: PO, EVE
    Waiting for: WoD
Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO
Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.

Trion is moving pretty fast in regards to pve, pvp content is slower. I am hoping for some open world objectives.

    Quality not quantity.

River of Souls and the Slivers in 1.2 were not good. I dont care if Trion releases 100 raids in the next 2 months, I just want 1 good raid.

Trion needs to start taking their time and releasing quality content, instead of just pushing out these crappy world events and raids as fast as possible.

Another raid?  Seriously?  And still, people citing the number of raids as evidence of sufficient endgame content?  image

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

I've never seen so many people complain about content being added vigourosly to a game.. I mean, would you rather have it be stagnent and sit there for months without any updates as all other MMO's do months after launch? Trion is taking risks by doing what they are doing atm.. World events almost every month? New raids being added almost every 2 months? FREE server transfers? I'm sure this kind of attitude is getting on other developers minds as they are used to charging you $15 for a server transfer and $50 for an expansion that's only 2-3 raids big with maybe a new zone with a day-long questline.

In RIFT-fans' defense, one of the initial attacks some people used was that "WoW had more at launch", which is still true but they're trying to show that Trion is making up for the lack of content.

And in the context of WoW-clones, Blizzard may open with more content, but the quality is generally not sufficient endgame content. either.

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.

but "more" can mean variety.  If they just keep adding the same type of content (raids/instances), no matter how much they add, it may never be any more than it already is, in that sense.  It's the reason people will keep complaining that it isn't enough, no matter how much more of the same they keep adding.

I guess some of us play for different reasons. What is it that YOU want in the game? More PVP? Daily quests? Some of us just like to raid and progress that way, and Rift is obviously going in the direction to keep those players busy.

If I am given the option between 12 raid bosses and added guildbank or 7 bosses and a daily quest hub (gag) I'll pick the 12 bosses any day.

Isn't free server transfer part of the new update as well?

  • JimmydeanJimmydean Member UncommonPosts: 1,290

Yes it is, which is amazing. I've always wanted to server X-fer on WoW, but 25 bucks on top of the 15/month already is annoying to say the least, esp when you have many toons.
