Depends. It could be down for anything from a few hours to a few days. Few hours if all CCP is wait for the storm to pass and then just put everything back online. However I am willing to bet that CCP will be running a few checks to make sure everything is still in order and nothing malicious was added to the servers which would expose them to a more serious hack attempt later on.

I get laid and I don't pay for it! But I am a geek at heart. Hanging is barbaric. Let's waterboard them instead. Finally I'd love to bump into oen of these people in a bar. They order a round. They go to get their change back. I butt in and take their money and put it in my pocket and smile serinly at them. You can bet they would be outraged. Bottom line it's the same thing.
I will never understand why they do what they do though. It just seems like they're mindlessly causing inconvenience. I have zero respect for them.
Unless the core of lulzsec is found and brought out into the light of day, we'll never know their true motives. They could be exactly what they claim to be, they could be a cover for organized crime or a false flag operation to discredit hacktivism. Since we can't know, it's probably best to default to treating them like any troll trawling for tears - ignore them.

Gwantamino Bay is the place for these idiots. I say lock them all up and torture them, because what they're doing is amount to cyber terrorism. I don't care who they are or their message. They're putting peoples livelihoods on the line, and they don't care who gets hurt in the crossfire.
If this was just a DDoS attack, you don't have to worry about your personal info. Denial of Service is just that; they flood the target's login servers with more request spam than it can handle and brings it to its knees. That's all DoS is....annoying as hell, but not technically a "hack".

releasing internal company emails can be hilarious, but DDOS on Eve and Minecraft? I fail to see the lulz...
apparently they are mad at Sony and are attacking all linked to it.
i seriously doubt thats the case.. their just desperately trying to make a name for themselves.. only it isnt working.. at least.. not in the way that they probably intend.. their a bunch of sad muppets.. in a way .. its a good job they really don't have a clue..
I think there is more to this than a "group of mad-hatters surfing about the virtual universe hacking and laughing their way through life" . Much more information is needed and not a rush to judgement.

or they might be exactly what they appear to be.. a bunch of sad geeky muppets with no life.... or girlfriends.. sad really..
Problem is, proper motivation hasn't been given to bring these hackers down. Most simple solution.. Ok, so when they attacked Bethesda, the company should have come out and said "Ok, good news everyone, NO SKYRIM until LulzSec is brought to justice!"
You know how quick the hacker groups would turn on eachother? You'd know who these people were in less than an hour. Their leader's roommate would probably string him from an apartment balcony somewhere with a sign "Here he is, can I haz Skyrimz Now?!"
Hey TSW Players http://www.unfair.co/ for Mission guides, Lore Locations and stuff....

of course, that could be people looking ofr a pattern where none exists. I mean, the Senate, Bethesda, EvE, League of Legends, etc etc.. I'm sure a link to Sony could be found somewhere in all their targets, but that is more a result of Sony being pretty large and having products in all sorts of sectors then any sort of collusion. EvE just recently announced the PS3/Dust deal so that becomes the first conclusion given their various hacks against different divisions of Sony. Of course, if some tenious link to Sony is the factor they are going by, it should be near impossible to predict who will be next....except they do announce some of their targets ahead of time i mean :P

... the way their annoying the hell out of people.. my guess is that they'll be 'oughted' fairly soon anyway.. theres always someone who knows somebody thats involved.. pretty soon that information will reach the right people.. and we'll see the police move in to pick them up... don't think anyone will be sorry to see the back of those idiots either.

Ok, maybe a little late for that.

I just wonder why they haven't gone after Blizzard yet...
I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
I don't get it...

Hype train -> Reality
Are these really hacks? Or just flooding the login servers with scripts until the servers lock up?

Currently bored with MMO's.

EVE is back, with a message from the COO on the www.eveonline.com homepage.
I like the idea of saying "We won't release X till they are brought to justice".
Also, this is getting old, and making me worried about repercussions to the rest of us.
