Awhile back I played the 30 day free trial of UO. I purchased the game because it was only 9.95. I have thought about going back to UO but the website is a bit light on information. So, I was wondering how (or if)I should go about getting statred again. Should I buy the new Samurai Empires and does it have the full game i.e. I can travel all over the available world? Also what is this about free shards? Is there still a large fan base for this game or will it die out as another poster suggested? There was alot of things I liked about UO when I played the trial but couldnt get into it at that time. Now I am looking for MMORPG and there were alot of things UO had I liked ships, horse, hirelings, mining and crafting. What should I buy if I want to play now and is it worth starting? Also what is the monthly now? I know alot of this has probably been covered under other post but I would like to know how to proceed to get the most from the game. Thanx

Samurai Empires does come with the complete UO series and a free 30 day trial. The monthly fee is $12.99. I just completed a review of the expansion which may address some of your questions. Click here to access it.
UO is not going to die out anytime soon, but it is an older game and is not seeing the influx of new players that other titles are. Also, starting UO now will require "breaking in" to a society of gamers that have been in the game for a long time. My experience was that they were very friendly and eager to help a younger player, but if you re looking for new players to group with, it's not as easy as in other games.
You can pick up UOSE for $25-$30 depending on who's running a sale. If you think this might be your game, it's probably worth the gamble.
