Crafting games without survival

VGTheoryVGTheory Member Posts: 110

I'm interested in finding games where you have to craft things, but there's no survival mechanic.  Think ATITD, where you don't need food or shelter, but you have to make a lot of things.

For my own reasons I will not play ATITD any further.  Thoughts?

I've played Wurm, ATITD, and Haven and Hearth, and am not interested in them.  Anything with a skills system would be great to, but not neccesary (inquiries into that have largely shown me that there isn't anything I like in the field at the moment).

You might want to check out Istaria... you don't *have* to craft things, but it's got a really great crafting system. You need to build up your adventuring side to get to the better/best materials though.

Otherwise, UO and SWG have good crafting systems.

This suggestion might not be what your looking for but when you say no skill system is a must, i'll suggest it on that basis.

garrys mod, its a sandbox game/mod based off the source engine. its more of  agame than what it used to be though. when it was first out it was just a mod based off half life (i could be wrong but thats what i've read, never played the first gmod) but now its more of an offical game id say, it still uses source engine though. has a huge community and has tons and tons of other mods which you can run with it, anything from maps, models and even gamemodes.

the concept is, they give you the tools, and your left to make anything, whatever you think of you can make, if your restricted a bit, with say a model, its not "to hard" to learn how to model yourself and import it into the game, will take few hours but after that its not to hard (wasn't when i tried atleast)

People have made anything from robots that follow you (using wiremod) to full working engines that go in cars, tractors. anything is really possible and even then, thats only half of the game. hunreds of maps, models, gamemodes.

hope that helps, not sure if thats what your after thought:P

Minecraft. Thats a crafting game. You can build whatever you want out of blocks and half blocks. All kinds of crazyness. And very little combat. Only thing is, make sure you go in with a plan.
