I found the forum post accusing Bioware of "buying" a good review from Penny Arcade amusing.
Penny Arcade has a good reputation, as does Gabe. BioWare was likely confident enough in their product and trusted that, if nothing else, Gabe would be fair and objective.
Interesting still too bad the review is centered on the single player experience.
How about a multiplayer review now?
Its not a review quote...
"So this isn’t a review or anything even close. What I’m playing is the beta and honestly changing all the time. I just wanted to share some of my impressions."
This writer is a lot like me: Hated SWG and needs more than an MMO set in the Star Wars universe in order to like it. Looks like Bioware has brought the fun back to this IP. Can't wait to play it.
"In most MMO’s taking quests is what you do so that you can go play. In SW:TOR, taking quests is playing."
That is what I expected, so it's good to read it from someone who is known for stating their mind.
This is what I've been missing in AoC's and Rift's and the likes. I just grow utterly bored of the copied fantasy scenery where you run through a camp to make sure you have your shopping list filled and then go to the shop and repeat it till max level. I want an immersive world with actual gameplay/playing the quests and be interested about them, not just pick them up, yawn at the screen, and go farm a million generic mountain trolls and skeletons and repeat it forever.
And why is HIS opinion more valid than any random dude's?
This sounds a bit hypocritical and using double standards to me, it seems you have forgotten how eager you were to post reviews on this forum when they were negative and you certainly paid attention to those opinions.
It's just one person who gave his impressions here, true, but it's also a person who has been playing the game for a month in beta which makes it have a bit more weight and be a bit more interesting than when it was purely 40 minutes or a few hours.
But you can wait for the next negative preview or impressions piece and elevate that to your personal gospel and basis for ranting all you like. Like I said, it'd be like using double standards but if that's your thing then you're entirely entitled to it.

Well he has been Bioware-aproved, so you know it's a valid and positive opinion. They like positive people. Mainly because they make more money with positive people.

Despite both Bioware and Mike K stating that Bioware had no control or knew what he was going to write? His opinion is worth more than just about everyone else we've seen so far because he had a siginificant about of time with the game.
Does that make all the people with negative impressions approved by Blizzard because Blizz would make more money if SWTOR fails? It's strange how people on this forum will believe the negative impressions of a financial commentator who never play the game but someone like Mike K who played the beta for a month is surely bought by Bioware.
I don’t want to drill down into too much little stuff about the game but there is one feature I have to tell you about because I think it is really cool. If someone in your party is off grabbing quests while you’re selling junk at a vendor you would have to wait for them to share the quest with you later in any other game. In SW:TOR you get a little message that someone in your party is taking a quest and do you want to join via holoprojector. The first time I saw this I actually said out loud “Shit yeah I want to join via holoprojector!” and sure enough your character appears there in all his or her shimmering blue glory. You can interact with the NPC right alongside your partner. It’s a little touch but believe me when I tell you the game is full of smart little bits like this.
This is indeed the impression I got myself as well, there's a lot of little additions and tweaks.
From the remote participation in quests via holocom, to your Companion that can be sent off while in the field to sell your items a la Torchlight, to 'kill x of y' quests where only a flimsy quest text explanation is given for in other MMO's but which in SWTOR are presented as Bonus Quests that you happen to gather in the field, to how you don't have to run back and forth to the quest NPC to update your quest but instead update the quest via holocom in the field, to how the cover system uses actual ducking and standing up to determine whether you're in cover or not so you can time your shots with the pauses of the enemies' shooting.
Each by itself doesn't seem much, but take all of those little convenience enhancers together and they provide a solid boost to smooth and engaging gameplay.
Totally agree, Mav-
in an MMO, there are certain actions/activities that you will cumulatively spend literally hundreds of hours doing- even minor improvments to this add up to a massive quality increase in your gameplay experience.

Yes this game is for Gabe-people. Not so much for Tycho-people.
