im going to vote yes, but im not addicted as in a smoker is addicted, I can stop when i have something important to do, or I have class, or another obligation. but that doesn't mean i want to, MMO's make up a large portion of my personal time, but it doesn't dominate my life
I have been in the past when i use to play UO-EQ1-DAOC-Vanillia WOW but it's long since gone. The genra has died and now we are in the middle of a change that is main stream solo, non community co-op RPGs passing themselves off as MMOs.
I'm not addicted to MMO's. I could be if there was one worth playing. I used to play LOTRO every day, but I don't constantly need a MMO to play. Guild Wars 2 will probably consume most of my free time. Ask again when it's released.

This is.....off topic? lol no need to bash newer games just because of nostalgic
As for addiction, I always have defined addiction being an UNCONTROLABLE desire to participate in certain events. In terms of MMORPG, I don't think liking a game and play it for like 4, 5 hours a day is addiction, addiction is more like when you can't stop doing something, even though you know it is wrong, the urge makes you come back and want more, thats addicition.
For me, nah, no MMO are that good yet, hell no game is really good enough for me to be addicted, I have quite a high standard
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.

What the hell are you talking about lol.
Are you adicted to MMO's, that was the question and i answered it.
The only off-topic in this thread is your above comment about my reply on why i am not adicted to MMOs.
For all I know, its technically impossible to be actually addicted to playing computer games, like its possible to be addicted to nicotine, alcohol, or washing yourself.
All people who play too much computer games are either (a) simply doing it because they're enjoying it or (b) having a reallife issue that needs resolving (and once its gone, the "addiction" will be gone, too).
I started playing back in 1998 with Ultima Online and EverQuest, and I was an avid player. I even stayed up into the wee hours one night trying to help somebody deal with an early EverQuest bug. I mention that because it was the only time I passed out while playing an MMO. Apart from that, I certainly put a lot of hours of my life into playing them.
Today, I look at MMOs and I shrug. I don't feel any connection with the players, the gameplay hasn't evolved in a direction that I care about, and the only appealing thing about the games is the remarkable quality of the graphics.
So I'm definitely not a member of the Addicted camp. However, MMOs retain their appeal as a fascinating and demanding exercise in software and game design.
In the past I was, when I first started playing them. I'd easily spend several hours a day, every day, to the detriment of my personal income. I didn't want to do anything else.
Now I only play EVE and only a couple of hours every other day. MMOs are on the far backburner now when it comes to priorities.
Current: None Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
I am not playing any MMO at this time and I feel fine. But if i find one i like i usually spend a lot of time in the game. So I think i can become addicted to a certian game but once i stop i feel good not awful.
So yes i can become addictied to a certian game....am i addicted now....no
Playing: PO, EVE Waiting for: WoD Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
The past three days have confirmed for me that I am not addicted to MMOs. When I have the peace and quiet, energy, and bare minimum of resources required to do other things, I play MMOs very little or not at all. MMOs are not even my first entertaintment choice, they are my choice when I feel run down, a little brain fried, and harried by too much socialization in the real world.
My first choices for entertainment are reading, writing, and squabbling with trolls in the politics forum.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

Playing mmorpg's is one of my favorite non-sport/physical hobbies.
I spent a crazy amount of time in these games.
Is that addiction? I dont think so.
Playing: Nothing
Looking forward to: Nothing
Maybe you should add a third choice, i have no idea what addiction really means but i tend to throw around the term a lot.

I obviously voted no.

I don't believe in yes or no questions. I mean, I fight boredom in my spare time. *shrug* But I do have other interests just as well.
