In my oppinion yes, in someone who doesnt like it's oppinion, no, so try the game out and decide for yourself, and if you dont like it, just sell it on ebay or something.

You will get some say yes you would get some say no.

Every mmorpg is subjective. So best bet is try it for yourself.

If you ask me i say its a good mmorpg but only you can tell if you like it.

No, WoW is totally NOT worth getting at this moment in time. You will get it and then be very annoyed that you spent $50 for a game you can't play because of nightly server crashes and login server issues.

Skip it and get City of Heroes if you are looking for a decent MMORPG.

CoH is one of the biggest unimaginative grinds ever!! The only thing that held me to level 20 in CoH were all those funky costumes... but that got boring as well.
Back to the topic, WoW is definitely worth trying, but then again, you may not like it. Try being specific in your questions. Forexample if you HATE forced grouping and grind then WoW is definitely for you.

What you call unimaginative, I call elegantly simple. And forced grouping? No such thing in CoH, but there are a lot better incentives to group in that game vs WoW which gives almost no incentive to group at all.

CoH has one of THE BEST social/grouping systems in MMORPGs today and the costume creation system IS the best out there today.

But yeah, WoW has plenty of things going for it...big world, nice graphics, great crafting system (best I've seen), but (and this is a big but) it has been one of the worst launches in MMORPG history. The server problems are really attrocious and not getting better after a month and a half since release.

The server problems and lack of grouping options really turn what would otherwise be a great game into a better than average game.

Save yourself some headaches and take up another hobby or play one of the classics for a few months and then buy WoW (if it's still around by then), but do yourself a favor and don't get it now. Not worth the $50 for the box and $15 a month until they resolve the server issues.

If you love to solo WoW is for you. If you want interaction with people I'd suggest you move past this one. Also the population imbalance is staggering already. It was from day 1.

To be able to reach level 60 while soloing is not enought to make it a nice soloing game.  It is barely a start, no more.  Can a soloer be the best soloer in the game(gearwise, stats wise) without doing anything but solo?  The answer in WoW is NO!  It is not a nice soloing game, it barely accept it to some extend, no more.

I hate peoples who trash soloing or make it a casual restricted activity.

Its is matter of perspective and opinion. What you call elegantly simply, I call grinding - which means killing same mobs in the same dungeon (OMG, they couldnt even design unique dungeons??). I dont know if they added more mobs but at the time of release there werent many unique mobs. Basicaly you would end up fighting several types of humanoids, nazis, some mechanical thingies couple more stuff. Instances are all the same layout, missions are ridiculously similar ( dont say WoW has same, becuase WoW has a much much wider range of missions). This all above is again a mtter of opinion. To me is grind to someone else is elegantly simply. What this proves is that each person isdifferent, and in order to realy know if you like the game or not then you have to try it first. People may give u a few pointers as such that WoW is very solo-friendly and supports grouping as well, but you shouldnt listen to people who say "NO dont buy it" because only by buying it and thus trying it can you realy see the game for yourself. The other option is to get a buddy key (very hard to find one) or to wait for trial (which can take couple of months even a year or two).
    Peace
