PVP, casual gaming and server status

Are there any servers where there is no PvP at all? I am thinking of getting WoW but I HATE having to deal with little punks who decide to kill you ONLY when you are 10 levels lower and already fighting a mob. Heaven forbid anyone try to kill you in a straight up fight. I had enough of that crap in the EQ1 PvP servers.

Can I play this game in 45 min sessions and still get things done on a solo basis? As in finish quests, net some exp and eventually make my guy good?

Are the servers stable now? I have seen some posts about login servers being down now and again but I don't know if those are from whiney little kids or are actual truths.

thx

    Dishonorable Actions
Actions that would typically be considered "dishonorable" are considered appropriate actions in a PvP situation and will not be addressed by our Game Master (GM) staff. Dishonorable actions include, but are not limited to:

    * Corpse camping.
    * Tricking players into getting flagged for PvP (i.e. jumping in the middle of another player's area effect spell).
    * Killing players well below your level.

There are servers where you have to attack a player of the opposing faction (in their lands) for you to be eligible for them to attack. You have the freedom to never attack an opposing player and in turn they can never attack you. When you select a server just don't pick a PvP server and you'll be good to go as far as that goes.

If you play in 45 minute sessions you will be able to accomplish quite a bit but some things will require longer times to play. A lvl 20ish instance (Wailing Caverns) took me and a group of 5 about 1.5 hours to clear. The time required increases as you gain levels and start to get into harder and harder things. A lot of things can be done solo but it is really easy to group for a quest and then ungroup at the end of it. The higher quests will simply just take a long time playing in 45 minutes sessions but I see no reason that you can't enjoy the game as much as anyone else.

I haven't encountered large trouble with the servers as some people make it seem. They do go down sometimes (more frequent than anyone would like) but its not an everyday occurence. They do take all the realms down for matience once a week for a few hours in the morning (4am PST I think). Blizzard is still working all the kinks out of their server system but I feel like it is pretty stable and will only get better. I usually have no trouble logging in and playing for a couple hours when I get the free time.

Hope this helps your choice on whether to play or not::::01::

So say I choose to neve engage in PvP, but I go to opposing lands and kill their gaurds for exp. Would that open me up for PvP?

Thanks for the answers,  very very helpful.

well you don't get exp for killing guards, killing guards just gives you PvP reward points. And yes, killing guards does flag you for PvP. Once you attack a guard anyone who chooses can attack you as well.

There are no quests (that I know of) that require you to go PvP enabled. As far as I know every quest can be done without enabling PvP. I don't know of any that require you to kill someone of the opposing faction. Maybe someone else would know a bit more about that.

The dishonor system doesn't exist, and when it does exist, it will only be for NPCs. You will never get dishonor points for killing a lower level player.

And did you read what you quoted? It says those things will not be addressed by GMs, and are perfectly legal on PvP servers.

For the original poster, join a "Normal" server and you won't have to worry about people ganking you.
