Cash Shops: Way of the Future or the End is Nigh?

What think you all?  Are cash shops a solid way for a company to increase their revenue for relatively little productive input, are they horrid machinations of the CEOs, or is the entirely F2P model a solid direction for the MMO market?

 

Personally I like it for the most part.  Being able to choose how much I pay for a product is very alluring to me, as I can actively reward the developers more if I appreciate their game, or give them literally nothing.  

 

 

Of course the contention arises that the game can be molded around the cash shop so that players are basically forced to buy things, however so far in the games I've played with cash shops (Vindictus and LoL) I haven't felt terribley cheated or misused at all.  I was more than happy to give some money to those companies because I appreciated their product.
