I heard a metallic sound, I looked down and saw an iron shield. I moved a bit, and the shield moved as well.
PHYSICS!
OMG you just reminded me of the last time I was really AWED by a game! It was on the quest in Oblivion where you go into a painting to find and save some artist who has ventured into his painting. And once you step inside....it's like an oil painting....EVERYWHERE! That quest blew my mind. I thought it was one of the most original quests I had ever seen and I was so immersed in it. What a great memory! Thanks! I had really been thinking MMO when I responded to this thread, but Oblivion was really probably my last "moment of awe."
WoW was awe inspiring...I didnt roll a night elf though! I rolle a powerful dwarf hunter who wished he was a necromancer. His name was...Leicnecral! So yah the dwarf place wasnt very nice but My mouth was drooling when I got into loch modan. I was seriously like "OMG IM SWIMMING AND PWNING LOCH NESS MONSTERS!!!" n stuff o.o was really epic!
Also flying in Flyff was pretty awesome...So was getting my cart in ROSE online. I was like "vroom vroom~~ haha! you cant chase Im too fast!!" in the newbie area and making them all have shocked faces @_@
Ah yes... Great times.

City of Heroes. It's the first game where I got to Fly!
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
This. Every other mmorpg after that was just trying to replicate that feeling (without any luck so far)
While I have had several 'whoacool' moments in other MMOs since, UO was a regular stream of mechanics and situations that just floored me.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
