You also admit that not a single group overland area has been added for over 3 years, and you say that this happens becouse it's the industry standard. True: the industry standard is solo-fest. And Lotro follows that standard.
No game is going to do this anymore so I'm not sure what you're trying to really prove or say. It's just the way mmos are these days.
Those that prefer complete or mostly group content can clamor about it all they want but they're the minority anyways. These companies aren't cutting back on group content or trimming down existing group content because the majority wants the group content.
I don't completely like it either but it is...what it is...
For better or worse pending on your playstyle the mmorpg landscape has changed.
...and it isn't going to go back to the old days. For any of these games.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Well, the OP was worried about Lotro beeing a solo-fest like many other F2P games, and I provided the info. Lotro is a solo-oriented MMO. Like many others? Well, yes.
Anyway, I am not even giving an opinion on this beeing good or bad. I think I haven't said, at any moment, wether I prefer soloing or I prefer grouping. You can probably guess it from reading my posts, but I have not explicitly expressed, at any moment, an opinion about it.
I am just providing the OP the information he was asking about. This simple.
Lotro, with it's 4 consecutive years of nerfing down content, with its over three years of not a single group overland area released, the game that spent well over a year with 3 3-man dungeons, 1 6-man dungeon and 1 raid with 3 bosses as all the group level cap content, the game that had to recycle all the old lvl 50 dungeons to make up for the lack of group content, the game where the epic books and the class quests are soloable (and actually easier, way easier to achieve solo), the game with forced soloing, is far from what I call a "group oriented" MMO.
