GM Discord announced the details of a scavenger hunt in MO today, per the message below:
The Acolytes of the Clerus Magica call upon the citizens of Nave to bring forth all the ingredients required for an advanced magical ritual. Whoever can manage to gather all the ingredients before the ritual is complete can select a rare book of their choice recovered from the Athenaeum Regalis within the lost city of Vica Ludico.

The only issue was not enough time. For anyone that cares to read that posted thread, plenty of people were engaged in the scavenger hunt, and were enjoying the event, but did not have time to complete it. The staff is taking whoever has the most of the items listed as the winner.
Fun event, and I think it's great when game companies actively provide live activities for their players, whether that's the invasion of some towns a couple of days ago, or a scavenger hunt like this one today.

Actually that would be totally false.
The "Winner" was a player who made a fake trial account and used his invulnerable noob character to run around with impunity from attack. I think the best part was in IRC when someone started complaining and the GM running the event said there was nothing in the rules about this. Then someone pointed out that it is considered an exploit on SVs on website...
EDIT:
The rage on IRC is insane right now. WSX claims they asked a GM and were given permission to do this. Everyone else is foaming at the mouth as it is CLEARLY listed as an exploit which is BANNABLE on the website!
http://www.mortalonline.com/content/regulations-exploiting
Exploiting of any kind will result in a banThe Following are Considered Exploits:
Resurrecting through a palisade wall
Resurrecting another player inside of a house from the outside
Accessing the house without the use of a key, or in any other illegal fashion
Climbing a palisade wall
Spamming friend request
Using the "Quick Turn" on mounts
Using a fledgling character for safe storage or transport

I'm sure SV will do nothing...again
I win!!! LOL@U
Update:
After about an hour's worth of IRC rage GM Discord entered and publicly apologized for his decisions in the Event. It was actually a good apology, no partial holding back bullcrap. He took full responsibility for the fiasco and said it was his fault.

It wasn't a good snap decision - taking ownership is the right thing to do - good on him for that.
In any event, it's good experience for the next such event they run, which overall, are good things for the game and community.
In every game, there are those looking at every turn to complain - I think this post sums it up nicely:

To any of those once again flaming the GM staff over flawed events. While preparation and planning may be an issue, what is also is an issue is experience in running such events; I imagine you and I would experience similar difficulties in predicting how an event would work on in a (at least partially) sandbox mmo. The only way to gain that experience is to hold events that may not work. So personally I'm happy to see loot bags covering the ground or rewards not being dished out on occasion if it means in the future we'll have quality and regular events. What you can do to actually help make these events better in future rather than just bitch so that they aren't held is actually provide constructive feedback such as what you found good and bad about the event.
Just something to think about.

I guess it's nice that they try, but their events have been complete failure over and over. Kind of like the tindrem arena thing. I don't think the fishing tournament was an official event, but they sponsored it, and I think like 3 people showed up. I remember when playing they had a few events that they announced, then repeatedly did the server warnings telling people about it, eventually cancelling them because no one showed.
And the current invasion stuff going on since dawn is also a complete joke. I was there for one of them on a trial, and you can't evne fight back because the games ai is horrible, and spawns/gathers underneath/inside of you, so it eventually turns into a giant mobs griefing you until you just log off or spawn away from the town and go somewhere else. Then spend a bunch of time virutally sleeping and eating...
But hopefully they meet more success in the future.
i have participated in a the majority of events in MO, i have to say that they have produced some events which were fun and well executed however those are the minority. The fishing event was actually one of the best run events in MO regardless of only 3 participents it went smoothly. The risar invasion event as a whole was great, it really did get people playing and out doing stuff, however due to some bad decisions by gms and players bitching at anything they could the event was cut short. The capture the hill event was also a great success. But the truth is the gms lack the imagination or real knowledge of how to run an event like this. Its a shame but im convinced alot of the community could run better events.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
While any event at all is better then none, I would await more from a sandbox then such a huge grind fest.
no idea what you mean by grind fest, i have never played a game with less grind than MO, it takes around 2 weeks to max a character. How is that grinding?

Guys read this

he yellow named "TheBanker" was created several days ago, but the guy with the account had to leave for awhile, and just returned yesterday. We also asked the leading GM and the Nave-Herald, if it was okay to use the yellow for the trip from the Storage to the Acolyte. And we were told it was fine.
Btw, there were more than 80people only in fabernum.
Hi!
Please read THIS: http://www.mortalonline.com/content/regulations-exploiting
And THIS: http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/63821-scavenger-hunt.html#post1171232
So what happened was that the guild in question asked a GM for permission to use an invulnerable noob acct to transport the items to the GM in the city because they didn't want to be killed and looted. The GM gave permission to this guild even though what they asked to do was EXPLICITLY listed as an exploit in the first link. The GM has described his decision as "a terrible mistake" .
That the lead GM did not instantly realize that what they asked was EXPLICITLY listed as one of the 7 exploits which are bannable is frankly, stunning. Guess we know how frequently those "exploits" are actually addressed by the GM staff...

And? What is the point?
GM said it was a mistake, but what con you do now?
And btw, he transfered the items from the store (in a guarded city) to the GM (he was in the same guarded city). No one was able to kill him without calling a guard.
ROFL. You OF COURSE can be killed in a guarded city. There were whole guilds such as AQ waiting to do such. Obviously the guild in question realized this and asked for permission to "cheat". Otherwise, what was the point of using the invulnerable noob flagged acct? It grants one benefit, and that is it's invulnerability.
I think the icing on the cake is that the guild involved claims to be an RP guild.

We all was thinking that the GM will spawn outside, so this was the point. But the GM spawned inside the city and Pks killed only naked people trying to enter. No one item trasporter was killed in this event, neither the no-yellow guys and there were tons of people trying to win.
I have the IRC logs where players were specifically complaining that they had this character targeted and could not Thunderlash him. I'll try this one last time as simple as possible:
The ONLY reason to use an invulnerable noob flaged acct for this was to abuse it's invlnerability. If there was some other reason please explain it to me.
The GM, to his credit... has quite clearly apologized for his bad decision. It is really silly to continue to try and justify it when the GM himself has called it "a terrible mistake".
The "RolePlaying" guild in question was upset because their member was killed/looted at the fishing event. To avoid that they decided to ask if they could use an invulnerable character to transport the items and do the turn in. For some unknown reason the lead GM agreed even though doing so is explicitly one of the 7 items listed as a bannable exploit. It was a bad idea by the "RP" guild to even suggest such an idea, and it was a bad decision for the GM to agree to it. At least the GM has owned up to his mistake though.

Slapshot he souinds like he is one of the Wessex that used the bannable exploit you can explain it to him until you are blue in the face he is not gouing to get it. How many bad decsions and fuck ups does Discord get until he is fired?? This is the same guy that has interviend on many PVP battles and made the wrong choices. It really sucks this "sandbox" game lacks any proper tools a gm has to be around at most times to be a ref to make the call on stuff. I never ran into any of this in UO and that game is from 97. I do not remember any time during faction raids we needed to have a gm to make sure everything was on the up and up and to make calls.
Also there were many events in UO put on by seers. I do not remember anything like this ever going down. Also we had stories and lore behind cities getting attacked. So far the risar invasion is just a gm plopping down orcs here and there for no reason. Where are they coming from? Why are they coming? Wjhat is thier goal?? How do we stop them??
Hire more experienced role players as Game Masters...?
Maybe some of the early players who understood games like these..? Henrik & GM cronies is getting very old...
