This game has decent graphics, fresh gameplay, smooth combat, low lag during high traffic, meaningful quests, and fully voiced dialog. It all comes together really well into an exciting, challenging, and fun adventure in a vibrant and interesting game world. There are a bazillion quests for me to do and I keep outleveling old ones, I'm never left without something to do.
The Freemium model works well for it because all it does is restrict non-vital classes and inventory space. The cash shop has some items in it but none of them are better than what you can get in-game with good old fashioned hard work and it doesn't break the game.
The community seems mature, but not afraid of dirty jokes, but not to the point where they're continuously disgusting. I have not noticed any kids yet and very few "BR BR BR? PL? PINOY KA?".
I suggest to anybody who has never tried this game to definitely try it. I'm enjoying it very much.

I see you aren't very far in
Voice acting becomes rare after Tortage.
AoC do have some good point, particularly the excellent collision detection in combat (a feature we will see more about in future games) but it also have some bad points like small and few zones.
Still, as a free game it is excellent.
I used to enjoy it myself. Haven't played in a while, but GL, hope you have fun.
I self identify as a monkey.
I'm still on Tortage leveling my Demonologist. I agree with everything you posted OP. Now that I can leave Tortage, I very may well sub. If I can ever get any free time to play, I'll do it. This seems like another game that was killed by limited content at launch, and poor launch overall.
Enjoying it so far..but the questing is getting old..need to kill some actual humans. We'll see.
Playing: BF4/BF:Hardline, Subnautica 7 days to die
Hiatus: EvE
Waiting on: World of Darkness(sigh)
Interested in: better games in general
Definitely having more fun than my first time trying it for some reason.
I don't like the combat too much. IMO it feels a bit slow and using the combos just feels weird. I don't like the fact that I press a spell and it goes off instantly, but the combos take 2 seconds to load. Still... Not too bad. At least it's a little bit different.
The most annoying thing to me is the bag space restriction. I complete a quest without realizing my bag is full, then accept the reward, but can't recieve it since my bags are full. Then the reward disapears of the screen and the quest completes. Anybody know if your bag space is stillm halved after buying one from the store?
You can't even get your xp if you don't take your reward, though you're in luck as the item is waiting for you to select it, I can't remember if it's by your compass or not, as I learned to make sure I have an open space before completeling a quest long ago to save time, I know for a fact though that you can still get your item and xp.

I think its a button near the mini-map, isn't it? To claim a reward if your bags were full.
I like AoC, but its really rough around the edges.
It's definitely fun for a f2p if you can get past the download. My biggest gripe is the download and the blocked off inventory. Idk if its just a graphic bug on my end with some sort of corrupted file, but I have this big inventory but can't tell how much of it I have available, because it doesn't appear to be greyed out or anything. Also, I feel it necessary to complain about the extremely slow download and patcher, and I'm surprised funcom still hasn't fixed this for years.
But other than that, graphics are great,(melle) combat is fun, and their is a lot of completely free content to keep me busy until tera or gw2, or w/e upcoming mmo...for free. Pretty good deal if you ask me.
Oh, and to the above. If your inventory is full and hte "Select your reward!" Screen comes up, you can press escape and it exits the dialogue but keeps the reward select up, allowing you to empty your inventory and select a reward.
Guess you havent left Tortage. The first 20-24 levels in Tortage always got rave reviews as the quests, story & voiceovers were top notch and the areas highly polished.
Its after you leave tortage things take a bit of a hit. Not trying ti disparage you as I have several level 80's in AoC and having played from pre-launch finally gave the game up in January this year. I just wanted to point out that right now you are experiencing the best part of the game pretty much, although I did really enjoy Ymir's pass also.
For veterans who managed to survive the rocky launch & early lack of content the big killer now is lack of endgame content. Khitai is a grind there is no two wasy about that and beyond that all you really have is Raiding which is very limited for free players. The endgame just is not there to keep you playing....
Im not sure what people hate about this game graphics are AMAZING gameplay is over the top quest are very deep if u actually read it world is massive enviroments are bueatiful it really feels sexy and savage o yeah and the armor is very purdy
There's an icon at your minimap to claim your reward.
For the other poster, Khitai end-game grind intensity has been lowered. The end-game contains lots of dungeons and raids, AA system and 12 (2 hidden) different factions each with about 30 repeatable quests, which is far more end-game content that most others have.
REALITY CHECK
You must still be in Tortage. Give it another 50 levels or so then come back ;p
Don't forget to hit up one of those really unique instanced battle grounds that no mmorpg has as well - meanwhile I'll be in a 3 realm siege warfare mmorpg.
I love Conan's graphics, don't get me wrong. But I'll take old school graphics and a ton more content and real races and classes...not Bob's Cimmerian, Stygian, Acquilonian guild vs Sandy's Stygian, Acquilonian, Cimmerian guild /flippen yawn.

I restarted over the weekend, running a level 1 bearshaman that i once created on my old account to claim the name...
Tortage is still the most immersive starting zone in any MMO till today... Despite remembering most of the content its great fun to run through the zone...
I am hoping to see some improvements in the level 20+ Zones.....
People complaining about the low combat speed never got the hang of the game, its one of the most entertaining combat systems....
I'll report back in a few days, as i am only playing very casually whenever i have a few free hours.......
