I like Rift alot. I have played since beta and it is still fresh and fun. I cant understand why so many people feel the need to analyze a game to the point of disdain. If you dont enjoy a game or agree with the type of game it is just let it go. Remove yourself from the conversation. All these supposed smart people on here and they dont really act as if they are. Enjoy what you enjoy play what you want to play and allow others to do the same.Your not convincing anyone else to not play a game by saying you dont like it. It just comes across as trolling even if you are using fancy words or think your smarter than you really are.
Trolling is purpously trying to derail a topic's point.
That's kind of what you're doing.
The OP had some great arguments; conversation around those arguments is called 'discussion'. We're on a general discussion board.
If you feel over whelmed by the discussion at hand, either add best you can or don't worry about it.
No one's trying to disdain the game in general, but a reasonable discussion popped up and they're participating.
It was alright, It did some things right that I liked and they seem to listen to the player base on different issues and act fast. However after all the leveling and rifting, it just felt like the same old game with a different skin ... not enough to keep me interested. Tired of the same games .... I played this game with a different skin 6 years ago .... now it's just old and boring. Like I said in my opening sentence though, nothing wrong with this game if that's what your looking for.
Rift is a excelent MMO for people like me who never really got into WoW and who havn't been keeping up to date with themepark MMO's.. I think Rift is probably the best themepark MMO out there (i enjoyed it way more then WoW) but for people burned out on that genre they won't see anything new with Rift and probably won't get as much as someone like myself out of it.
I finnaly got it to run ok on my machine again and since then i've put about a 10hr stint into the game lol.. Gotta love Rift! And now with the new pvp dailies world pvp is happening EVERYWHERE.
Currently Playing: Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
Most people say its a decent game, but its too much of the same. I'm not seeing that as bashing it.

Rift is what it is. For those that want more of the same in a different setting, they've got it. Trion -- from the beginning - have pushed this game as an alternative to WoW. Even their original slogan, "We're not in Azeroth anymore" indicates as much. Their mistake was they assumed that to entice away the WoW crowd, they needed to build a game like WoW. Apparently they didn't get the fact that many in the MMO community are tired of WoW and WoW-like games. They want something different and Rift ain't it.
But for those who want a similar gameplay to WoW, Rift is a fine game.
"If I'm not enjoying the game from the beginning then why do I need to torture myself to get to "end cap" to see the "real" game? WTF? Why can't the WHOLE GAME BE THE REAL GAME" - TheExplorer

Completely agree here. Although I must say, if I want gameplay similar to WoW.. (which sometimes I do) I will go back and play WoW. Because Wow atleast is a fully fleshed out world, random "rifts" to battle amidst a bland and lifeless world of quests made me a sad, bored gamer by level 35-40...
Rift is OKAY, I pre-ordered the collecters edition.. I tried sooooooooo hard to make it something its not.. But the fact remains it is what it is.
I heard someone say the OP was being Passive Aggressive....agree 100%. It's a trait found in the "Alpha Male" species. The ability to calmly and politely tell you you are wrong while seeming innocent and caring.
OP: you are definitely not being objective and I dont think anyone else is either. It's almost impossible to be objective with a game seeing as it all depends on the "eye of the beholder" which forces subjective based thought seeing as the "beholder" will always be different.
My last comment is that Rift sucks and has a tiny world that you either can't explore or if you do explore it, you'll come out empty handed. I made it to level 30 before I called it in. Just more of the same but in a much more compact model.
on a second note, one of the features that always intrigued me in MMO's that is non-exhistent these days is exploration. In WoW you could traverse 2 continents (vanilla) full of areas that are pretty diverse. In EQ1, AO, DAOC and many others you could wonder around different areas for hours just finding out what each area had to offer.
These days its nothing more than walk through this tiny path we created and kill these monsters along the way...hand in quests at end of path and start down another path. go to the dungeon at the end of all the paths and fight through another path of mobs that look similar until you get to the boss....now you go to the next zone and rinse and repeat.
So many MMO's these days are that predictable and I think that kills immersion as well...we need surprises.
