Yeah, once again the servers are down, once again you can't log into the WoW message boards, and once again the e-mail support center is messed up.
This has just crossed the line in my opinion, in Beta fine I'll take the excuses, in the first couple weeks, that's okay I'm not paying for it and the staff need to get used to the large numbers and stress on the servers. But now more then a month after launch and the problems seem to be getting worse, not better. The last couple of weeks I've wanted to play, but sadly almost 80 percent of the time the servers are almost all down, sure Blizzard is giving free days extra and other handouts, but they're not worth the grief, if I get a day free and the server is down for 2 it's in the negative.
It's to bad Blizzard can't get off it's high horse and admit it doesn't know what it's doing, go take some lessons from SoE who yes has had terrible customer support but at least their servers are up a good deal of the time, or instead take a lesson from Mythic and Dark Age of Camelot in which in 2 years of playing I had only encountered one incident where I had to call upon a GM in game due to a bug, and the servers well I could play whenever I want.
If I were Blizzard at this point, I'd apologize, suspend payments get some new damn servers or fix the shitty system they have now and in a couple of months attempt taking my money again.

i'd have to agree that the sense of customer support coming from WoW is pretty poor. Slightly better than SWG was, but overall just bad.
CoH has set the standard here.
My biggest complaint about WoW right now will be the errors and conflicts it seems to have with a large number of peoples systems. As it is, right now for me, I kept getting errors so I uninstalled. I have done everything except reformat (which im going to do soon) and I still can't get the game reinstalled! It always gives me an errors during installation. This problem is the number one problem in their tech support page, and I tried all their "solutions" and still nothing.
The game is amazing. It just drives me nuts not being able to play because of their crappy programming. I read an article by a guy who had the same problem as me, he tested all his hardware and everything. Don't tell me it's my hardware. All other games work fine, and lots of people have conflicts with the game and their hardware.
I don't play but I've heard the servers have been absolute hell thus far. I went over to the WoW official site and took a look at the forums. There was like 17 pages on the topic of servers being down.
I was planning on buying this game a while back but as of now I'm glad I didn't. It seems like people who are playing now are basically paying for a game still in its beta stages. Is Blizz planning on refunding a shit load of time to it's players? If they don't I feel that would be a little low of them. Best of luck to all those that play.
the funny thing is that EVERY mmorpg i have played has had the exact same topic posted several times.
Loves the jobs you hate
Yeah I am having 2nd thoughts about this game to. Not only shutdown some servers for 16 hours. I start fresh on a different server with very few people on it. Level him to 10th lvl and get my crafting to 75ish with some chain made. After 4 days then get emergency maintence shutdown for 2 hours. I went back to my 10th lvl. Not only did he get rolled back 4 lvls to 6th lvl. Lost all his bars of copper and lost his crafts. So I went from 10th lvl with crafts and crafted armor to 6th lvl and no crafts or loot. At least 1 or 2 times a week along with the crashes i get rolled back. WTF is it with the rollbacks?
It took me more than a few hours at the very least to get my crafts, gather good amount of bars
craft me some armor and weapons to find out that I lost all that due to the rollback. Why havent I seen these rollbacks on other mmpg? I agree this game is going backwards and not forward.
Goodjob blizzard taking one of the best mmpg and start making it unplayable at times due to tech issues.
Yeah second thoughts on for me too. Why wouldn't these ppl at Blizzard anticipate that their game realeased 2 weeks after EQ2 the predecessor of the biggest MMORPG in North America would sell over 600, 000 copies in under a month. And then they would have the nerve to scramble together countless new servers and not have them up and running all perfectly in 2 weeks while more ppl who cant read that servers are at HIGH!!! population and create more characters, overloading the servers.
You ppl are discusting, Blizzard doesn't know what they are doing??? SOE didn't have to know what they where doing cuz they flopped. This is by far the best launch to a game with volume of players this game has to deal with. SOE had it easy cuz no one bought the game and it was still a crapy launch, I've never heard of a game launching and not being down in the first week, or the first 3 days for that matter. Every game for the rest of time will have a crappy start, its inevitable after playing MMORPG's for 6 years its just become all part of the experience.
And ppl if your MB is over 2 yrs old take it out and break it over your knee. The chipsets are garbage and they are not going to run this game or most games released this year and will give you the BSOD. I was getting the BSOD when I was running my Asus P4S800(God sis sux) and picked up a Asus P4P800E-Deluxe 2 weeks ago and no more BSOD or crashes for me. 9 times out of 10 the crashes will be caused by the garbage chipsets on your motherboard go read any tech forum. Mostly cuz they dont communicate with your RAM or AGP slot properly.
And if your just a fan-boi from another game trying to stur up crap, plz get a life, they dont pay you and they will eventually end up ruining your game too because u were too busy going around bashing other games.
Man i'm tired so i'm not gonna bother proof reading lol.
Love the game, hate the support.

could you tell me how again Eq2's release was horrible? went down once unschedualed, once.....unlike blizzard i would say
anyway, the game didn't flop, if you cared to look at the servers almost half of them are at full and the other half are getting there, while Blizzard is loosing customers every day

-EQ1 character:Grotub, shaman of the Tribunal server <retired>
-Eq2 character: Grotub, mystic of the Crushbone server
-Eq2 guild: Imperium Arcanum; on Crushbone server
Where exactly is Blizzard losing customers? My server sometimes has lineups to get on, and it is always a high population no matter the time of day. Not to mention that you can't buy WoW anywhere right now because every store is sold out.
Not that one game is better than the other of course, I just thought I'd point that out.

never heared such a trash
Just beacuse you server is down at conveinant times doesnt mean all are Vercades. I would also be pissed if I was paying money for a game I couldn't play a lot of the time.
So all of these server problems are do to "scheduled server matienece?" I'm sure blizz purposely has the game down for a bunch of people all the time. The game is basically still in it's beta stages. Theres no way around it.
People are having it crash for no reason at all while in gameplay. Somehting is seriously flawed no matter how much you try to sugar-coat it.
Blizzard have so far shown what I'd say is probably the worst communication with their community I've ever seen in an MMO. They're devious, patronising and deceptive at best and downright liars at worst, but they're a business and how they run it is up to them. If it starts infringing on my enjoyment of the game, then it'll be a problem.
As for server performance, I guess I've been lucky. The only server downtime I've experienced has been scheduled outages.
EDIT: And Saigon, I agree - the game is paid beta (although a very stable beta in my experience - I've crashed only once since retail began) and was rushed out the door to satiate Vivendi's financial lust, but I remember playing in the stress test and saying "I would pay to beta this" and I guess I got my wish.

Double post
Really? They always helped me. Then even replied back to minor bugs that occured in the game and said it would be fixed in the next update. Can't complain about Blizzard.
But yeah, when a server goes down, it sucks... that's why I quit playing on servers that have a HIGH population. I play on Medium or Low. Funny thing is, even on a Medium or Low population, there still seems to be more people walking around than people in older MMORPGs that are rated as "High" for population. lol
Plus fun thing about WoW is since you can easily level, switching servers isn't all that bad. Make a new char, solo, get to level 15+ in 1 week. I love it.
This also gives you a chance to try out another faction, another race and another profession. You might even end up loving the new profession you remake!
I love(D) priests, my first char was a priest. Then I switched to Earthern Ring, made a Hunter, which I thought I would find okay, I ended up loving having a pet even more than just healing all the time. Plus I noticed that Hunter is a lot easier to solo too.
And Earthern Ring barely ever crashes! Heck on some days when the High Population servers crash, Earthern Ring gets swarmed by newbies that came from the crashed server to play there instead.
And even today, Earthern Ring remains a "medium" server and runs like a charm.

I should clarify.
I just mean their communication on a large scale leaves a lot to be desired, such as their latest faux pas where they "accidentally" didn't tell the community about specific nerfs.
I'm not in a position to comment on GM performance as I haven't had a reason to page one yet.

I agree about customer service - it could of been better. But I only been in a situation ONCE that required a GM, i fell down under SW city and died, couldnt revive my body and I didnt want to spawn at the healer. It was past my bed time so I just paged GM and next day I came back i was safely revived at the healer. In my opinion, CS could of been faster, but comparing to other games Ive played its not uch worse, actualy, Ive seen worse.
Call me lucky but as far as I know, no1 ive met ingame had any technical problems with this game.

True it does lag for about 30 seconds when you get to a high populated area, and that has more to do with your connection then system. In my case I lag for a couple seconds and don't lag afteer it anymore unless I go to another populated area.
The community is by far the best community I've ever played with, given they don't give me free items but they stay with me through hours on end sometimes finishing quests we earn them together. Its not hard to find a group if you know where to look and take advantage of the windows of opportunity infront of you. I've only solo'd maybe the first few missions in Northshire Abbey and Ellwyn Forest.
Negatory ace, City of Heroes, I was there at server up. Like on the dot, they announced they were taking an hour to set the things up, hour later it comes up, no hitches, we were good to go, and that was that. No launch complications at all.
Players aren't obligated to anything but to adhere to the EULA and Terms of Service while playing the game. It's a video-game, and when you pay monthly for it, you expect it to work. Theres nothing here to argue. It's as simple as that. Just dont put out a MMO if you can't handle the 'success'. They generated the hype machine, its their bed now they sleep in it. It's ironic how the 'best MMO' out there is likely going to be cut down by its own success, it's server instability, and rabid lag are going to drive players away in droves. It's like an earthquake. The earthquakes happened, but you haven't felt it yet. But it's coming.
It's not the game its the netcode and the hardware. It's not able to handle whats being thrown at it. But its still their fault nonetheless.
