I'd rather learn about and experience the gameplay by playing it. Not watching someone else show me how to play, where to go, what to do. A walkthrough is for use when you can't figure something out. Not to lead you by the hand the whole way through.

I am moderately interested in the game. I am not interested in learning all the spoilers before I can even start up the game client.

Agreed, but this goes a long way to show what kind of content and turn of events we can expect in the game. Having a small partial walkthrough of the starter dungeon hurts noone, and when the dungeon is this good it will sell the game to a lot of people. I'd rather have people to play with than a virgin game with not even 1% spoilers at all.

What hate have I directed toward the game? I expressed my view about how I use a walkthrough.

Seeing actual gameplay for the first time, I have to say that it reminds me a lot of Age of Conan.  While AoC had great graphics (as does TSW), I found the game to be rather clunky and slow compared to other similar MMORPG titles.

I'm excited about this game, but it remains a distant 4th behind SW:TOR, GW2, and ArchAge.

this has moved to my no 2, close behind Archeage.  Man that was intruiging and refreshing thanks for posting thiis

Ok i lost all interest in GW2 ;). I am sick of fantasy MMOS anyways.

GW2 is already as good as bought as far as im concerned so i guess that makes TSW my number 1 P2P candidate, however it is still a funcom game so i will not throw caution to the wind as playing it on my own rig and seeing it with my own eyes will be believing on this one...

But i want to believe it can deliver! ;)

    Playing GW2..

Wow, I'm definately going to play this game!

It looks like a much better game than SWTOR in all possible gameplay ways!

Did you notice how cool the lightning vs water fight was?

Even at this stage that game is starting to look rather good. It certainly will give many a nice break from the generic high-fantasy titles. Hopefully the skill system will be good. At the moment, it seemed rather confusing. Especially the fact that you could change the skills in the middle of instance. Hopefully there also will be some limiting factors when it comes to using different aspects of skills.

But anyone, the skill system seems to allow for a lot of different builds, which eventually will end up being the most optimal builds for any given dungeon/situation/boss.

Never cared much for GW2. TSW is what i am looking forward to. And yes it looks amazing.

It's okay... it seemed your regular MMO dungeon.

I like the UI i think. But I hate how PC do not have Voice overs. I still don't see how this dungeon run > GW2's dynamic events either.

Who said anything about GW2's dynamic events? are we going to nitpick now and turn it into TSW vs GW2 thread? some people like GW2 and others like me prefer TSW, no need to take it to the heart if some like it more than GW2.

For the same reason the good bioware rpgs did not have voice overs and the bad or non-rpg ones did - voiced PC breaks immersion HEAVILY.

Why does it have to? Some people are looking to TSW > GW2 for the much larger promise of content as their main game. I'm sure many will pick up GW2 for simply a "great ride" so to speak and not give two shits afterwards to play it for very long.  Did you hear TSW's team has 7 years of post-launch content already planned out? GW2 probably does too, but in the form of 10 expansions that will cost as much as the game.

The point is, noone here is comparing TSW to GW2, and that is because they can't be compared. For me, GW2 is something I will never play, because High Fantasy is so old and stale no amount of "twists" can make it appealing again. This is why I am here, on The Secret World forums, looking forward to The Secret World, in peace from kids who love to talk about how awesome "Thinly Veiled WarCraft 9" is going to be.

I love the video. Thanks for posting the links. I'm not a fan of voices in game because I am an alt-aholic. Having to hear chatty kathy over again gets annoying. I don't like to be read aloud to in games. I want action not a lot of dialogue.

I also like that I have to look elsewhere to get help with the game. That finding the code for the box was neat. Course once everyone knows it then it's just another quest, but I like that.
