Well to me, the jumping through castle is all fine and dandy, it just seemed a little pointless, doesn't seem to be well thought-out yet, lets hope they polis that up a little bit
As for the architecture, woah it looked like something from mincraft, maybe they turned down the settings or something, but this castle had to be the worst I've seen out of all ArcheAge video, its relying on the CryEngine too much, thats why the environment looks amazing, yet the castle looked like a pile of grey turd. It needs a balance.
And heres to hope that not all buildings are 100% stone or 100% timber, they need to mix the material up a little bit. I either see a stone castle or a timber house.
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.

Yeah, I expect since it's alpha/beta stage, they don't render everything the way they want with optimization yet.
Most betas are like that. SWTOR was looking really skiddish until a few weeks ago when they started to fine tune some stuff and now the combat is looking half decent.
A little worried for this game. I know it's got a lot of cool physics features but the camera movement and graphics is giving a strong Vanguard-like feel. Not good. Ultimately it stands a good chance of getting lost in the frantic flashiness of GW2 pvp, dynamic quests, SWTOR voice-overs, cinematics, facial expressions, epic story, The Secret World's surrealness, real world tie-ins, Tera's hi-res graphics.

It doesn't stand out enough for an MMO in 2011.
It'll stand out once people realize you can build almost everything you see.
This is the kind of thing I do in every MMO. WAR actually had some fun places you could get to. I found a couple hidden bosses and escaped from the world doing this kind of thing. They also had that awesome hidden area in the Inevitable City you could only get to by jumping around on what looked like background scenery.
I guess what makes it interesting in ArcheAge is the fact that cities can be made by players.

Haha, same here. I think I actually spent more time wall jumping in WAR than doing anything else. I wanted to find the mysterious plungers
You say parkour... i say some dude running around rooftops.
Next lets make a dcuo parkour video!

When i played Rift that was half of the time i was doing there-jumping around and climbing mountains.
Now this is videogame parkour, or freerunning as I like to say it, as much as I hope ArcheAge be the game I imagined it would be, that isn't pakour, its just a character jumping around on boxes (those chains are boxes, just textured differently) you don't scale or climg anything, you are just bunny hopping.

If you arejudging it from this vidI would agree.
Thankfully though it brings an entire set of amazing features to the table.
No, it won't be as big as SW or GW2, but those games are for the ultra casuals anyhow from what I see... I dont think AA is in the same market (I think it will be very possible to play AA and GW2 for instance and experience very different games with a very different 'vibe').
This game will imo perform amazingly, IF they get optional PvP in somehow on seperate server. If they don't... well, it will be tiny here in the West.
Parkour? All she did was walk on some wide ledges. I hope its the OP calling it parkour and not AA's dev team listing it so. Btw, the world looked like a cardboard set in a well funded school play.Surprising. Seemed so much more...advanced from what little I had seen before.
This was a player made video.... MMORPG you serisouly need to list it as that. Your making people assume this was an official video when its not. The player is just trying to show that your not limited by invisible walls and things like that. Obviously in beta fall damage was turned off because they were testing mechanics on a system that rockets you into the air to get to another questing area, and they didnt want people getting seriously frustrated when it wasn't working properly.
"In the immediate future, we have this one, and then weve got another one that is actually going to be so were going to have, what we want to do, is in January, what were targeting to do, this may or may not happen, so you cant hold me to it. But what were targeting to do, is have a fun anniversary to the Ilum shenanigans that happened. An alien race might invade, and they might crash into Ilum and there might be some new activities that happen on the planet." ~Gabe Amatangelo
agree, title is too misleading, no Parkour at all, not even 1, but again, the world is just as beautiful as it ever is, i will still play the game, just that please change the title

An MMORPG with parkour would be crazy-awesome.
.... too bad this isn't it.
Really interested in this game, not so interested in what was in this vid. Climbing stairs isnt all that thrilling.
Now... lets see a new MMORPG incorperate the idea of parkour and that would be interesting.
I expected something more like...

Parkour is like talking to chicks
I don't talk to chicks
To pay for play, or pay not for play, that is the question.
!!!!!! Holy crap that's amazing!

So far so good.
It's a gryphon except lots of grunts of exasperation. Meh?

Don't forget the crazy camera angles.

God, it's just a fun little film. Relax!
So much bashing. And here I though *I* was negative... Sheesh.
